Alan Ball brings another novel to life for us in the new film called Towelhead. The synopsis I grabbed from Wikipedia is as follows:

Towelhead is a 2007 film by Alan Ball based on Alicia Erian’s novel of the same name. The film made its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival on September 8, 2007 under the name Nothing is Private. It will be released in the United States on September 12 of this year.

Towelhead tells the story of a young Arab girl named Jasira (Summer Bishil), who is sent to live with her strict Lebanese father (Peter Macdissi), who lives in a small town in Texas during the first Gulf War. Jasira struggles against her father’s lifestyle, and against her racist classmates. For the first time in her life, the painful truth of being an Arab hits Jasira, causing her to become sexually obsessed with her neighbor: a bigoted army reservist (Aaron Eckhart).

The cast:
Summer Bishil Jasira
Aaron Eckhart Mr. Vuoso
Peter Macdissi Rifat
Toni Collette Melina
Maria Bello Gail
Eugene Jones III Thomas Bradley
Matt Letscher Gil
Chase Ellison Zack
Lynn Collins Thena

Over-night fan (almost literally) of the Sookie Stackhouse series since early 2008. Co-owner of True-Blood.net. Anxiously anticipating season 6.
