Our first contest of 2009 is here, thanks to Keyse, who joined us in the Chat Room of our radio broadcast this morning! Next Friday morning, we will choose five winners, yes, I said 5, of our Dream Casting contest. In the ‘comments’ area below, tell us who would be your choice (excluding yourself) for some of the characters from season two, which will be based on Charlaine Harris’s “Living Dead In Dallas”. This contest will close at midnight on Thursday, Jan. 22, central time. Contest rules are posted here. Please, only ONE COMMENT per person. If you post twice, your first comment will be entered in the contest and the second one will be disqualified.

If I were casting the show for real, this is what I would go for:
Portia: Mary Lynn Rajskub (Chloe from 24-smart, no nonsense, a bit cranky, has the same square features as Chris Bauer)
Barry: Christopher Goram (Henry from Ugly Betty-looks perpetually 20, lanky, and can do awkward or more sophisticated)
Stan: Michael Emerson (Ben from Lost-this is a no brainer for me! Pale, can look geeky but is quite powerful and quietly menacing, plus he’s married to Carrie Preston [Arlene] – let’s keep it in the family!)
Farrell: Nathan Fillion – totally a good-humored cowboy
Isabel: Summer Glau – Isabel is described as very pale with long brown hair, “flat” (I interpret that as very thin, no curves) and scary/deadly – that is Summer! Cyborg, vampire…very similar.
Hugo: James Spader (been playing a conflicted, sex-addicted attorney on Boston Legal for years, keep it comin’!)
Godfrey: Dominic Monaghan (older than described, but very good at playing lost [har har] and desperate, ready to give up)

Dr. Ludwig: Linda Hunt popped into my mind immediately. She is naturally distinctly Other, and at 4’9″ could easily fit the bill
Gabe: Michael Cudlitz (“Bull” from Band of Brothers-he was a good guy in that but I’ve since seen him play evil very well)
Polly: Frances Conroy (Ruth from Six Feet Under – doesn’t have the gray hair but can be extremely stern edged with insane – plus obviously Alan Ball likes her!)
JB: Chase Crawford – a tad on the young side but sooooo pretty
Steve/Sarah Newlin have already been cast so I won’t go there.
