Spoilers: Morsels for Season Two

2009

Just a couple little things leaked out from E!Online. Beware! This could be another red herring. ;)

Lindsay in Houston: I cannot wait until this summer! Talk to me about True Blood!
Sookie’s power is not unique to her. She’ll meet a young Texan named Barry who reads minds, and they freak each other a little when they discover each other’s powers. Also, great news for us Eric fans: We’ll be catching up with him in 10th century Scandinavia, likely when he was first turned into a vampire. Holler!

    • THELMA says:

THERE IS AN OLDE SAYING, “DONT MESS WITH A GOOD THING”. AND I AGREE WITH THIS 100%. SOOKIE & BILL, THATS WHAT THE STORY IS ABOUT. WE ARE STILL IN SEASON 1, AND I DONT KNOW ALL THE THINGS THAT HAVE HAPPENED OR STILL TO HAPPEN CONCERNING BILL & SOOKIE. IVE READ A FEW SPOILERS AND HAVE THE IMPRESSION THAT ERIC IS THE SO CALLED PERFECT SUCKER FOR SOOKIE. HES LARGER THAN LIFE, OLDER, WISER AND JUST ABOUT (EXCUSE THE PUN) MILLS & BOON PERFECT FOR SOOKIE. I DONT AGREE. I GUESS THE AUTHOR IS GONNA WRITE WHAT HE WANTS TO WRITE, BUT I HOPE HE DOESNT FOLLOW THE TYPICAL FOLD, AS IN BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER * HEROES. AND BEND TO PEER PRESSURE.
LETS TAKE A FRESH RECAP ON HOW ONE GOT HOOKED IN THE FIRST PLACE…..

THE FIRST FEW EPISODES ARE WHAT GOT PEOPLE HOOKED. STAY WITH THE PLOT AND EXPAND ON THE ELECTRIFYING CHEMISTRY BETWEEN SOOKIE & BILL. IT WAS THE INITIAL REALNESS THAT HAD PEOPLE ROOTING FOR MORE.LET THE TWIST & TURNS HAPPEN AROUND THEM, WITH THEM INVOLED..BUT AS A COUPLE WHO GROW AND MOVE FORWARD…TRUE BLOOD/TRUE LOVE. KEEP SOOKIE AS SOOKIE AND BILL AS BILL..TWIST THE OTHER CHARACTERS AND MOVE BILL & SOOKIES RELATIONSHIP TO ANOTHER LEVEL, (MARRIAGE @ NITE, SOOKIE FALLING PREGNANT THUS HAVING A KID WITH TRUE BLOOD, HOSTING NITE PARTIES @ THEIR HOME),I HAVE ALOT MORE TO SAY, BUT WONT…..DONT MESS WITH A GOOD THING,,, AND AS YOU ALL KNOW THE BEGINING OF THIS SHOW WAS GOOOOD, THATS WHY THE FOLLOWING IS BIG.MWAH

  2. Emily Gerkin Palsrok says:

Even though it’s not a big part of the books, I would love to see the show explore the vampire’s backgrounds more – like when they were each “turned.” I hope this rumor is true about Eric. And I’d still like to learn more about Bill’s history since he was turned – I mean, what has he been doing for more than 150 years???

  3. Jill says:

Yippee, Eric history! Can’t wait! I heard that the 9th book (that comes out in May) contained the Eric backstory including how he was turned. Maybe Alan Ball got a preview of book 9 from Charlaine and is incorporating that in the season 2. Although this could totally be Alan Ball messing with us!

  4. Jkoozel says:

  5. Kelly says:

I hope that the writers did get an advanced copy of Dead and Gone because Erics turning (which I heard was in the new book as well) is too big of a story to be told on the screen one way and in the book another. I respect the changes Alan Ball has made and understand that those changes needed to be made to turn the books into good TV, but something like Eric’s “being made” is just too big to change.

  6. Amel says:

I agree with you. The changes in the books to tv series is understandalbe and I can’t wait for both the show and Book. I love Eric

  7. Tonya says:

Don’t get me wrong. Eric’s hot, on the show and in the book, but Bill is Sookie’s first love! I know the show will do some twists and turns to go along with the books but if Sookie does not end up with Bill at the end of the series, it’s going to be a huge disappointment to me.

    • Stephanie says:

I agree. I haven’t watched the show (I just started reading the books), but I want Bill and Sookie to wind up together. I am in book 4 and they’ve broken up. I like Bill and want him with Sookie! That’s why I got hooked on the books!

    • lenka says:

I agree too.I think that Bill is not only her first love but he is the real love of her life.I know that the book must be twisted and we all have to be curious about their story but at the truly end they have to be together because it s all about them.

    • Staci says:

I want Sookie to end up with Eric. It’s just something about the girl who changes the tough guy and makes him all soft and have “feelings” that gets me everytime. Everyone, well just about everyone one moves on from there true love. I would sooooo be with Eric. In real honesty I would have loved to have Quin in a bit more, but rebounds never last either.

      • Challie says:

I totally agree about Eric. The real story for me is watching a 1000year old vampire who admits to not like having feelings risk his life time after time for a human, and fall more and more in love with that human and fighting it all the way. I’m still hoping we get the Eric and Sookie relationship on True Blood.

        • Kim says:

It’s Eric all the way! Bill messed up and Eric keeps proving himself over and over again. I want more of Sookie and Eric…

    • Challie says:

And I will be extremely disappointed if the Eric & Sookie relationship is not developed. I don’t know how Alan Ball plans on satisfying the fans as far as Sookie’s love life goes, but I can’t wait to see.

    • Biru says:

First Love? Im not impressed. Bill cheated on Sookie, he is apparently not strong enough to protect her when she needs help, he has raped her, Skipped out on her, and frankly does not appear to respect her independent nature. Eric has protected her when she has asked for it and besides all of this, Sookie has had the best sexual experiences with Eric! If Sookie ends up with Bill, it will not only be a disppointment…but it will be a slap in the face of recovering battered women everywhere.

  8. Tiera says:

there’s nothing there i didn’t guess already. i try to steer clear of the asting call threads tho!

oooohhhh! an Eric flashback! yay! i agree with all of you, i hope Eric’s history is in the book 1st… but ’ship-wise, i can’t decide, between Bill or Eric… and Sookie keeps bringing Bill up and if Bill’s as repentant as i think he is in the books about his initial motive for seducing her, and Eric’s a total dreamboat…

    *sigh*

  9. Lara says:

Well, I really like Bill and everything, but Eric’s relationship with Sookie is quite deep, and it’s awesome to see the development of it in the books. Can’t wait to see it on TV, since Alexander is so perfect as Eric.

    • Challie says:

Agreed about the E/S relationship. It has been building for 8 books now. I really hope we get to see it on-screen.

  10. Mikki says:

I truly hope this isn’t one of those “fake” spoilers that Mr. Ball mentioned in his podcast interview w/ the hosts of this site.

I am jonesing for much more Eric in Season 2 plus future seasons of TB. If the casting calls for 2 vikings “Gunnar” and “Hrolf” aren’t planted, it does appear that we will see Eric pre/post battle mode as a flashback in Season 2.

  11. Tina says:

Okay, I love the books I can’t put them down because I keep wanting Bill and Sookie to just get back together already, its killing me. I know everyone thinks Eric is hot, but there is just something about it when you see Bill and Sookie even in the same room, the passionate looks and Bill wiling to sacrifice his life for hers, now that is love. I think Eric is to full of himself in the books, he has some level of attachment to Sookie and he has taken bullets for her and so on, but thats because he knows he will heal, on the other hand Bill came out in daylight to save Sookie on the show and admitted in the book that he would do the same thing, when Eric would not admit to risk his life for her. So if they don’t wind up together, it will be a huge disappointment and I just don’t think the show will be as great as the first season. I know the books are all about Sookie’s life, but why break up the couple that got everyone so wound up in it in the first place!

    • Challie says:

For me, Bill and Sookie are not the reason I love the show. I watched the show b/c of the books and Eric. :)

  12. Dahlia says:

You have to get further into the series before you can pass judgement on the whole Sookie/Bill/Eric thing. When I started the series I was very much into the whole Sookie/Bill thing. And then the tv series did an even better job of romanticizing their relationship then the books did. But, when you get further into the book series, and realize what Bill has done, (and this will be a parallel that will occur in the tv series as they have already laid the ground work with Bill making references to a female vamp leader)you can understand why Sookie took it so hard. All the reasons for why she wanted to be with him in the first place turn out to be false. And Eric… Eric is a character that has to evolve. And in the last book, you could start to see him coming full circle and realizing just how important Sookie is to him. Whether he’s happy about it or not. I imagine that the next book is going to have some interesting developments where him and Sookie are concerned.

    • Staci says:

I totally agree. Long live love for Eric

    • Kat says:

I can’t wait for the next book…next week, yea! E/S should have their moment. I thought that I saw another book coming out later this year on Charlaine Harris’s website…but that doesn’t seem right, does it..so soon?

Unfortunately, what happens if Sook finally decides on a vampire (Eric or Bill)…what happens after the “honeymoon”…..does Sook turn vamp or grow old….more material for further books, but do any of us really want to know?!

Last reflection: Please give us the shower scene! Alex is all for the nudity according to his statements at Paleyface…yea shower scene.

    • Kimberly says:

      Wow! that does make sense!
      but waiiiiiit ://
what is this that everyone is talking about!?
Eric is in love with SOOKIE!? whats going on!
      someone answer back please…
I am not much of a book reader..

      Team BILL<3

  13. Staci says:

As long as they give Eric enough screen time, more one on one Sookie and Eric time

  14. Lillie says:

Oh my gosh… I agree with Stacy and Dahlia- it’s a double edged sword. I really wanted Bill and Sookie to stay together and when I found out in the book what Eric made Bill confess to Sookie- well it just broke my heart. I found it very difficult to pick up the book again and finish it. But eventually I did. I pictured Anna and Steve going through all of this. I must admit that they do such a damn good job portraying their characters that I would sometimes get upset with Sookie for treating Bill that way. (When I lived in Shreveport/B.C. area I saw alot of that.) I don’t know… I guess I’ll have to keep on reading and wait for the upcoming season. But there’s just something about Bill and Sookie that keeps on puzzling me….

  15. Dimmplzz says:

Wow this could really turn out interesting. Didn’t expect to see Eric’s Viking backstory so early, especially in season 2. With all the speculation, anticipation, and possilbe planted casting calls and spoilers, just makes the wait all the more exciting!

    • Jkoozel says:

So I’m definately addicted to the books and show! Can’t wait for May!! I just rewatched the True Blood shows I had on DVR, and I find myself talking to the TV! anyone else?? or am I just nuts! Bills “devotion” to Sookie so quickly makes you think love at first site. BUT….now that I’ve read all the books I find myself saying he’s only doing that because……you know! Like the part in True Blood where he say’s “There are urgent matters to which I must attend” to Eric (which by the way I say this all the time now my kids get so annoyed). Anyway he gets in Eric’s face and says If anything were to happen to her you would be greatly…. and Eric literally gets in his face and says “what”. We all know what Bill is talking about and it’s not necessarily true love! I got so much more out of my second round of watching the series, lots of ah hah moments. Like Bill also says Sookie must be protected and Eric says, that sounds like an edict but it couldn’t be because I would know about that!!! AH HAH! again.

      • Challie says:

Exactly. I read the books first so I caught those things, but I did catch more on my 2nd watch of the series. AB laid the groundwork for Bill’s betrayal and the devolopment of the Eric and Sookie relationship. I can’t wait for season 2.

  16. Michelle says:

I think Bill is a tool and I can not wait for the next book!!! Eric is exciting and funny, Sookie and him are fantastic together, talk about chemistry! I hope they stay semi-true to the books. I liked season one and thought the changes were fine, but if they change it too much I will be bummed.

  17. lisa says:

alan has already changed the whole storyline as far as the staking of longshadow and bill going out in the sun to save sookie. i believe he did this for a reason. i love the whole bill-sookie love story and i hate the fact that charlaine harris is giving him the cold shoulder in the books. makes you wonder f tv bill has much of a future on the show. i dont like eric at all. i believe him to be manipulitive.

  18. brunettebarbie says:

Cant wait to see more of Eric !!

  19. E. Cartwright says:

More Eric, the story won’t be the same if Eric and Sookie don’t connect.

  20. kay says:

i have read all the books and barry the belhop is part of one of the books so that does not suprise me. but i didnt think he would come in so soon! I like the show a ton but the books are bunches better! if you havnt read them and are watching this show you should really pick them up! :)

  21. Leslie says:

I just finished the books and haven’t watched the show yet, so be gentle! Is there any mention of Quinn yet? I was curious to see who plays him.

    • Challie says:

No, but Quinn doesn’t appear until Book 5 right? Season 1 followed book 1 with the finale starting into book 2. Book 2 is the basis for Season 2.

  22. Lulu says:

I loved the relationship that Sookie and Bill had, and I began reading the books about two months ago and went through the first seven already! I would love to see Alan Ball go through with what happened between Bill and Sookie, and his real reason to being with her surfaces. Alot of people think we just love Eric because he is hot (well he is) but really in stems from his growth in the books! He has lived so long and seen so many things, and for him to drop all of the walls he has built over the hundreds of years and have these emotions for this human woman is so awesome! Also, he was innocent when it came to knowing about the Bill thing (the reason Bill ever went to Bon Temps). I would love to see more Eric/Sookie and Bill/ Sookie (and Pam, even!) and less Tara…maybe even more Sam….. not that I don’t like Tara…but oh well. Mr. Ball gets to do what he wants, right?

    Yay, Eric!

  23. MC says:

Books and television (and movies and so on) are unique mediums which tell stories in completely different ways. There is simply no way to translate between them without changing the how the story is told–which causes the perception and meaning to change as well.

In the end those involved are better off taking some of the strong elements that they can work with and building around them to make something new. Instead of a poor imitation the result could be an excellent alternative.

Really, we already have the books so why does the show need to follow the same story? That would just be boring. I say make it different! Then we’ll have something new (with some familiar elements) to watch unfold.

  24. TB says:

Loved the books and I’m so loving Eric and hope that they evolve the character. I know that they will do what they will but I so can’t wait for season 2 and also the next CH book!

  25. We have to keep in mind the books and TV series are Two Different Works of art. They have a lot in common, but they are Not the Same. Each is wonderful in its own way.

In the books it was Eric who staked Long Shadow. In the series it was Bill, AND he got in Big Trouble for it, and is now saddled with a “daughter” who isn’t in the books at all.

Eric is a hunk, and I enjoyed his little episode of amnesia in the books as much as anyone. But in the TV series last season, Bill actually came out in the sun to try to save Sookie! That looked like True Love to me, and I’ll be sadly disappointed if she doesn’t end up with him on the TV screen, even though the events in later books have been somewhat foreshadowed on TV, so the course of True Love (if it IS True Love) will not run smooth — and that’ll be INteresting.

How it will end in the books, only Charlaine Harris knows. Whatever she does will be absolutely right in the literary format. Each will be perfect for its own form and the writing in both cases is superb.

  26. Dana says:

I will admit, when I first read the books, I hated Bill and couldn’t wait for him and Sookie to split. The Bill in the tv series, however, i found to be a lot more interesting, so I’m not so eager. Also, I think that he gets a lot better in the later books, when his geekish side comes out.

As for Eric, I love him to death and I am desperately hoping for he and Sookie to be together in the end. But, I know that they can’t be together right away in the books because having the same couple together for the entire series is boring, so I’m okay with them almost getting together, then not. (I haven’t read Dead and Gone yet, its still sitting on my desk so I don’t know if they are finally together yet or not)

The same goes for the tv series. This Bill and Sookie are good, but to have them together for the entire series: booooring! Alan Ball needs to shake things up a bit. We all loved Angel and Buffy and look how that turned out.

  27. Kimberly says:

Can someone please tell me what happens between BILL & SOOKIE in the book!?
everyone keeps mentioning he lied to her or something.its driving me nuts! what happened between them? and whats with the love triangle with her & eric!?

  28. Teresa says:

I loved the first season of True Blood, just like I loved all of the books in the series. There is an amazing on-screen chemistry between Stephen & Anna, but, and maybe this is because I know what Bill does in the books, I get the feeling that when it comes to protecting Sookie, it’s not so much because it’s true love so much that it’s what he’s been told he has to do.

I can’t wait to see the Eric & Sookie relationship change and grow on screen!
