Allan Hyde cast as ancient vampire Godric in True Blood

Those who listen to True-Blood.net Radio know that we like to play “cast that role” whenever new casting sides are released. A role we’ve been trying to cast for weeks is that of Godric, the ancient vampire who looks 15. We’ve recently received confirmation that Godric will be played by Danish actor Allan Hyde. He certainly looks the part! Allan is a recent graduate of film school and is an award-winner short story writer. Allan as Godric is set to appear on our screens in True Blood‘s fifth episode this season, “Never Let Me Go”. For more about this episode, visit the Spoilers section.

Ohhh c’mon guys since the begining Godric appeared, he was not supposed to stay this long in the movie! It was just obvious! With a risk to sound rude- he’s not the main star! I liked a lot his appearance (it was A great performance), but his role was just not to stay this long! And nobody owns Eric anymore( just jokeing)!

Allan Hyde as Godric…his scenes leave you breathless, amazed, and stunned = he has that something extra – unbelievable star power. Hopefully the creator of the show Allan Ball will come up with a way to bring this actor back as Godric …. I hope they will be able to come up with a believable way to bring him back to this show.. possibly as a mentor for sookie or eric
or give him his own show or movie as Godric in True Blood the prequel

I concur, Allan Hyde was absolutely riveting. You couldn’t take your eyes off him when it was his scene, all others seemed to disappear. It’s not sex appeal that I am speaking about, but the ability to project the soul of his character. I was sobbing right along sith Sookie when he went up in flames. Perhaps you could do a mini story accross a group of episodes where Eric is going through some torment about his memories (as in the book), but where he is reliving, or must relive the early times spent with his maker, and the reasons for his total love and dedication to Godric. It cwould make a great sidetrip.

Allan Hyde made an unforgettable performance in True Blood- GODRIC IS THE MOST AWESOME CHARACTER . Bring him back NOW!!!

You cannot beat an ancient Roman vampire with amazing compassionate for life and coexisting harmony with others- plus, he is a really tough disciplinarian toward his vampire race. Godric absolutely stole the show from other characters. Unbelievable that the best character only had two episodes.

  5. Foxer says:

personally my fav characters in TrueBlood are Godric, then Eric, then Sam. Bill is okay, but he runs like a little girl with arms flailing. (its actually quite funny, really.)

    Back to the Point:

I love Godric’s character. He isn’t in the book, though I wish he was, sometimes. He is fair, if not generous. He is calm, collected, and observant. He is just. He is a peacemaker. He is different from other vampires, in the aspect that he dislikes killing and bloodshed after 2000 years. He is suicidal, but not in the way that makes him depressed-he is suicidal in the way that he is accepting. He wants to burn, and is happy about it. He loves Eric, as a mentor and a Maker. He has fiercely loyal subordinates. And he makes a good exit, a death so original in its context (as far as I’ve seen, mind you) that I put it on my iPod and a screenshot of it is my background.

I think that Godric should come back in some memory suck as in Season 9, when Eric tells Sookie about his past. Or that he could be in one of Eric, Sookie, or Bill’s flashbacks, of when he was alive. I just want to see more of him on screen, even if he doesn’t do much at all. Just his presence would be a good booster to the series, if not abused. Also, I agree with j13, a prequel would be a good addition to the series. Something like the X-Men prequel of Wolverine (though I hope Godric’s will be better).

And no, I’m not a crazy Godric fangirl. I will not throw a tantrum if you disagree. However much he is my fav character, and however much he could kick (excuse me for the T-light refrence) any T-light character or fan’s asses whenever he liked, I will not subject myself to the disgusting ways of the squealing fangirl. That being said, I hope that everyone here agrees that Godric is a good character (if not better than good).

    • TankGirl says:

I agree, Godric is an amazing character, but you are mistaken when you say he is not in the book. He most definitely is. In Living Dead in Dallas. The whole second half of the book centers around Sookie and Hugo infiltrating the Fellowship of the Sun complex to locate and rescue the vampire Farrell, and his kidnapper, Godric.

  6. Sally says:

Bring back Godric! He totally stole the show in season 2. just brilliant. :)

  7. Shari says:

I hope so much that Godric will make any type of appearances throughout season 3.. He was great even though his part wasnt that long lived.. Please have him come back some how,, I absolutely adored Godric, He was taken from us much too soon…

  8. Juliana says:
