Actually in the episode where Eric was turned, the character Godric was either a Mayan or Aztec with black hair and olive skin. I wonder why they changed the character.
You dont think after 1000+ years he’s changed his ‘look’ a bit….? But the actor who plays him, slips in and out of his ‘changes’ very well. I think they’ve made the ‘Godric’ character so extraordinary. Job well done.
He is definitely hot… but not quite as hot as Eric!
Sondra – I believe he was actually supposed to be an ancient Celt, based on the tattoos. Also, it would make more sense for a Celt to be running around that part of the world (the Celts and the Vikings were often fighting with each other back then).
In the book Godric is a Roman. His reference to being older than Jesus and wishing he could have met Jesus, but he missed it kind of gave it away too.
In the book he was also only liked young boys…and he decided to step out in the sun and kill himself the day after sookie got away from the Fellowship of the Sun church
If we want Godrick to hang around this season or longer, then we must hammer the powers that be and let them know, WE WANT GODRICK!! I believe that Eric and Sookie will hook-up this season….or maybe Godrick will decide he wants her.
Godric is Hot on this show but in the book he prefers males remember! Flash back to book when Eric remembers Godric the first time- Eric states he had never been with a man until he met his makerGodric! I think that is why when he was badly hurt on show flashing back when he was talking with Bill he mentioned wherever he is there will always be women! They made sure they stressed that part. You will see. Love them all! Hunky Vampire men!
Godric was not Eric’s maker in the books. A vampire named Appius turned Eric in book 9 and was, as you noted, interested men.

I love the tattoo work, and the character. I do wish they would keep him in future episodes. What a surprising and wonderful character, also a suberb actor.

Amanda, the only time we delete a comment is when it is offensive (e.g. using foul language) or attacking another fan in an unfair manner. We do have to check our spam filter periodically to release some comments that are caught for various reasons, so they don’t show up right away.
dear true blood fans,
please try to keep in mind that the TV show is a bit different from the books
it wont be exactly the same, as it is with all movies/TV shows that came from books
so if something is not the same as the book maybe they’re trying a different spin on things

OMG I LOVE GODRIC!!!!! he is my favourite vampire. he is one mighty fine vamp….
Killing off Godric, regardless of the books, because MANY of us haven’t read them and aren’t planning to, not to mention how much of the show is different from the books (based upon what so many are saying that have read the books), should NOT have been removed from the cast (going into the sun and dying). Based upon his age (2000 years old), his character could have brought amazing story lines to the show, including ancient times, history, the beginning, tons of flash backs, knowledge and info on vampires and more —- and because he had come full circle and nearly started thinking like a human again, he could have been the first of the vampires who truly, truly not only wanted live and survive, grow around the humans, but one who actually almost hybrided back to one (so to speak). Their could have been a story line of him being like a Jesus, but in the vampire race – a holy vampire, the knowledged one, the supreme one and so much more – the options were countless. Their decision to follow the book with regard to him dying was a foolish decision in my opinion – foolish in the sense that the destroyed the countless and incredibly interesting options his character could have taken on.
I already saw “I will rise up” and spoiler alert might i say WHY MUST YOU MAKE THE YUMMIEST MAN ON THIS WHOLE PLANET THE GOD OF ALL OT VAMPIRES THE MASSIAH OF ALL SHERIFFS DIE??!! Godric was the best thing to happen to his show with his cute lil forgien accent and that freaky second langauge and you had to make him semi-suicidal? GOD WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!!!!???????
Godric is the light and the darkness. He is the one who walks in both worlds, the earthly realm and the spiritual realm. Keeper of the natural balance. Godric is so beautifully soulful.True Blood needs him!
