Erik Nordman dog tags - inspired by True BloodWe have a really cool giveaway for you this week, Truebies. Janet Cadsawan, a jewelry designer who created the bronze engraved buckle and Thor’s Hammer pendant, along with other items, for the Viking flashback scene in “Never Let Me Go”, donated a set of “Erik Nordman dog tags” for us to give away. Inspired by our favorite Viking vampire, Janet writes:

The truth of the matter is that when vampires die the second time, all that is left is a pile of ashes – hence the necessity for dog tags. We hope that Erik Nordman’s are never recovered but we know he wears an ancient Viking double dragon talisman to protect during battle and that his Vampire ID shows his rank as Sheriff of Area 5.

PS a varnish is added to protect the oxidation and blood stains from fading. The varnish will fade over time from use and if worn in water. Apply acoat of beeswax or furniture wax to maintain color if this happens.

Want to win a pair for your very own? Here’s how to enter:

  • In the comments below, tell us which flashback you’d like to see on True Blood (character, era, event).
  • Be sure to use a valid email address when you leave your comment.
  • Comments must be posted by 11:59PM PT on Thursday, August 13, 2009.
  • One (1) winner will be drawn from eligible entries and notified via email.

Good luck!

NOTE: A few people have commented on Eric’s name being “misspelled” on the dog tags. For copyright reasons, Janet is using the Nordic spelling of his name, which is probably how it was spelled for a significant portion of his life (and unlife).
