Updated 08.31.09: We missed the quotes from Alexander Skarsgard and Ryan Kwanten on their respective nominations in the original press release. How silly of us!

“Everyone knows it’s the VILLAINS who have the most fun. Thanks to the ‘SCREAM’ team and congrats to everyone at ‘True Blood.’ This is very exciting for the whole show,” said Best Villain nominee and star of HBO’s “True Blood” Alexander Skarsgard.

“Thank you for the nomination and thank you for letting me frighten you. I look forward to doing it again sometime soon,” said Ryan Kwanten after hearing he was nominated for Best Horror Actor for his role as Jason Stackhouse on “True Blood.”

    It is also nominated in:

    “Best TV show”
“Best supporting actress with Rutina Wesley”
“Best supporting actor with Nelsan Ellis”
    “Best Ensemble”
“Best scream song of the year, with Bad Things by Jace Everett”

  2. dragonlady76 says:

Alexander Skarsgard is NOT a villian so this nomination is pointless!

  3. Eric'sWoman says:

Alexander Skarsgard a villan? You’re joking right!!! I would vote for him to be best actor over Stephen Moyer anyday!

  4. DebbiefromNY says:

I’m so happy to see True Blood recognized! Now we’ll have a show in October to druel over. I’m genuinely ecstatic there are so many nominations (unlike the Emmys) and cannot wait to watch! So happy for the cast of TB!

  5. TeamEric87 says:

r they serious alex skarsgard(eric) as villian um im think someone needs to go look up the meaning

  6. ALan says:

I have always enjoyed the Scream Awards, good to see True Blood as a nominee

  7. Lina says:

Woohoo go True Blood! I think Eric can qualify as a villian. He’s damn convincing.

  8. Amethyst says:

I don’t understand why everyone on this site has their panties in a knot about Eric. He is an antagonist (someone who goes against the protagonist or hero). And just because he isn’t black and white evil and has depth and character doesn’t make him good either. He is actively pursuing Sookie, to the point of getting her to unknowingly become attached to him, in an obviously more than physically passionate way. Doesn’t exactly spell good to me. Compare him to Godric (bloodthirsty vampire turned saint) or even Bill whose most heinous things he did were for his Master. This show isn’t really about black and white, more about how characters are played off of one another. Yeah he’s a hot guy, but this show has so much more to offer than that.

  9. Tiera says:

Movie wise: i voted “Let The Right One In” seriously! all vampire fans should see this movie!

So happy that TB is well-recognized by award giving bodies. To the peeps here who are aghast about alexander nominated for the villain award – c’mon, at least he was nominated. even he appreciated the nomination itself.

further, i am torn between stephen and ryan. stephen has his abilities, but ryan is simply funny and good as Jason. hmmm, need to think more before the deadline. :)

  11. Vi says:

I wouldn’t read too much into the villain nomination – it simply means they could get one more castmember in, and it’s either this, or putting Alex up against Nelsan.

  12. kaluca says:

I think Eric would be proud to be nominated Best Villain! :)

  13. Candee says:

Not voting. Eric is not the Villian. If anyone is, it’s Bill…

    A-holes.

    • Candee says:

Oh, and I don’t have my panties in a bunch. Just a…thing.

Anyway, why wasn’t Maryanne up there? She’s the main issue with this season, right? Oh well.

  14. Amethyst says:

Just because you personally think that Eric is hotter than Bill or whatever doesn’t make him a hero. To say that someone doesn’t deserve a nomination for an award is just silly. Everyone on True Blood is kinda amazing as actors and if you are just watching because you think so-and-so is sooooo hot, then you are missing a great show. Yep, I agree, Alexander Skarsgard is gorgeous, but I don’t watch this show for its’ ability to pick hotties and put them on a screen. I watch because this show convinces me of its reality and draws me into every episode. I would continue to watch even if they killed of some of my favorite characters (actually I would pay more attention). This show is way more than the sum of its parts. Don’t complain because a character someone plays gets a nomination for an award. Just be happy that it didn’t go the other way, and somehow got cancelled.

  15. nish says:

Don’t forget Sam Trammel! He is nominated in “Breakout Performance-Male”.

  16. Godriclittlegirl says:

Hm I think the actor who played as Godric should have gotten an award..^ ^ for being so darn right cute and handsome (plus the fact everything he said I agreed on)
