Jace the Televisionary had the opportunity for a morning-after chat with True Blood executive producer Alan Ball, who shed some light on events from season 2 and where we might be heading in season 3.

Televisionary: In that same episode, Godric’s death also enables us to see a different side of Eric. Was that a way for you and the writers to give Eric an added layer of vulnerability?

Ball: Yes, absolutely. One of the great, fun aspects of the books—and it’s become for the show as well—is the romantic tension between Bill, Sookie, and Eric. And we started off the season and we wanted to make Eric a bad-ass and I think we were very successful with that, by having him shred that guy in front of Lafayette’s face. (Laughs) And then in order to have him be a real, viable option for Sookie, you have to have some humanity there. She may be attracted to him physically, especially now that she’s had his blood, but she’s never going to go with somebody who she feels is evil or at the very least amoral. That was definitely what we were thinking of with Eric.

Another good interview, I really like where they are going with this. I can’t wait…I am even more excited about this season than i was for the 2nd one.

Key words in this interview definitely implies that it wasn’t Eric that took Bill, which I already knew ;) . I can’t wait for the boards to be up, to start speculating :)

WOW!!! June can’t come quick enough!

It looks like they are going to start incorporating plotlines from the later books into season 3, which kinda makes sense. I can’t imagine the series will last for 9-10 years (although one can hope!)

I can’t stand having to wait for the next series. Why do we have to wait so long!

Alan, Amazing creativity in this show True Blood, I am an old lady of 52 and my son’s friend came over (season one) and had us watch an episode. Well needless to say we are hooked, the whole family. You have an amazingly talented group on your hands, nicely done! I keep thinking some old tunes would go well in the story line like Steve Winwood “Can’t find my way home”
You are awesome, keep up the good work!

fantastic interview! loved how Ball talked about everything, it wasn’t just a fan ‘ohmygod youre so great’ interview but also a really informative one, especially about the writing process. Keep up the good work!

That was a terriffic interview. So much to consider for season 3. Cannot wait.
The idea that the love between Bill and Sookie is real, is wonderful. That their love will be tested is going to be hard but necessary. I think that their chemistry is amazing. I am glad that Alan is going to keep them that way.

Honestly hate to put a damper… but in a very recent interview AB said this about Eric and Sookie: “of course they’re going to come together, it’s fated!”

      Team Eric!!

      Hehe.

Omg I read the interview. My imagination is going crazy with all the pictures of what could happen. I want Jessica to be affiliated with some nasty vampires now that Bill is gone because the theme of season 3 is everybody finding themselves. So maybe she will become a little more then she is. Also, who the hell is going to be Lafayette’s love interest, that’s going to be so interesting. I def. hope its somebody supernatural. I want to see more epic fight scenes too and maybe a little more gory scenes with Vampires feeding. I’m a little disappointed that in that interview nothing was mentioned about Lorena.

It sounds like season 3 will be more exiting than 2 was. Allan Hyde brought tears to my eyes with his depiction of Godric. The two episodes that took place in Dallas were my favorites. I worked in Dallas so I was very interested in this story line. I hope AB finds something else for Allan Hyde to do. Eric, can’t wait to see some action with Sookie.
