Remember the afghan a traumatized Lafayette huddles under on his couch after being released from Eric’s basement? My great aunt Honey gave us an afghan using that same pattern when I was a little girl; what a nice bit of familiarity to see it turn up in fictional Bon Temps. Seems I wasn’t the only one who liked it. A few weeks ago True Blood fan TinatheCat contacted us looking for a clear photo of the afghan, in particular the layout of the different color blocks.

TinatheCat is an avid knitter, you see, and she and her pals at Ravelry wanted to recreate the afghan if possible. Thanks to screencaps, repeated viewings of the episodes, and fellow knitter BettyMcKnit‘s pattern-making skills (download the pattern here), TinatheCat recently completed the replica afghan and sent us a photo to share. Impressive, isn’t it?

The afghan isn’t the only thing True Blood has inspired TinatheCat to create. She reports that “Next are knitted/crochet toys that represent the characters. There are flys, fairys, owls, and even vampire patterns on Ravelry, so I have lots of inspiration. Currently I am working on a cute little knitted pig of Daphne, that will be modified for a dagger and knitted heart,  I have gone over the edge…”

A knitted pig for Daphne? Awesome! How about a reversible dog/fly for Sam? A fanged, red-haired Jessica? The possibilities are endless!
