Why Women Love Vampires, And Men Don’t
Frisky columnist John DeVore loves True Blood, and he’s not afraid to say it. Especially when he can use it as a pick up line. His theory on why women are drawn to vampires and men are not isn’t groundbreaking, but it is amusing and rings true.
In “True Blood,” the vampire Bill has decided to change himself, to fight his ferocious nature. He struggles to be a better, um, corpse. He rejects the cold, bloodthirsty vampirism of his peers, and tries to embrace those human virtues he once had: selflessness, mercy, kindness, and justice. In some ways, he’s less a vampire and more a superhero.

Well, I think the columnist was a little lazy…he may like True Blood, but we on the forum really don’t get his rationale. He seems to think that only women like the Vampire stories (Twilight, Vampire Diaries, True Blood) when there are a lot of men who like the stories as well.
He seems to want to make it a guilty pleasure for men or a tool for connecting with women…but deep down, I think he is like Jason Stackhouse…Vampires challenge his confidence in his own sexablity (as Jason says) and thinks he has to compete with Bill, Edward, Eric, and any other of those beautiful Vampires we encounter in shows and books….
