Lisbeth Scott To Sing In St. Peter’s Square

File this under “once in a lifetime moments”: Lisbeth Scott will reteam with the composer of The Passion of the Christ score for a special performance in Rome’s St. Peter’s Square (the Pope has been invited) next summer. Composer John Debney reworked part of the score to create “Passion Oratorio”, a 70-minute opus featuring Lisbeth and the Continuo Arts Symphonic Orchestra and Chorus, including soloists Beverly Coulter and Patrick Layton.

“We’re going to have giant projection screens throughout the square — and hopefully Michelangelo would approve,” laughs Debney about the June 5, 2010, event. “But it’s quite daunting, as it’s St. Peter’s Square, and potentially tens of thousands of people might attend, as it’s also a free concert.”

The extravaganza will also help raise money for local charities, says Debney, who adds that “the hope is that it will also become an annual concert.”

Lisbeth’s latest albums, Hope is a Thing (Lisbeth Scott - Hope Is a Thing) and Peace On Earth (Amazon or Lisbeth Scott - Peace On Earth), her holiday album, are now available.
