Grant Bowler joins the cast of True Blood season 3

Australia’s Sunday Telegraph confirms that Grant Bowler has joined the cast of True Blood for season 3. Bowler isn’t saying which character he’ll play, but he’s excited about the opportunity:

“Mate, it’s HBO and it’s the King … it’s the chance to work for an Oscar-winner [series creator Allan Ball] and alongside an Oscar-winner [Anna Paquin],” he said.

Bowler is currently co-starring on Ugly Betty as the dasterdly Connor Owens, the man who charmed even the scheming Wilhelmina. You may also recognize him as Captain Gault from Lost, which stars Carrie Preston’s hubby Michael Emerson. Bowler will be bi-coastal while filming True Blood in Los Angeles and Ugly Betty in New York, but it sounds like he’s up for the challenge.

Now, who do you think he’ll play? My money is on either Cooter, leader of the biker gang, or Franklin Mott, the “sexy, sexy, sexy” vampire who sweeps Tara off her feet.

Updated 12.02.09: The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Bowler will play Cooter, who is also a werewolf.

I hope he is playing Franklin Mott because he and Tara would be hot together!

omg! when does season 3 come on? i have been so busy with college and my new born, i have not had time to find out anything about the new show.

  3. Tiera says:

i don’t remember him from LOST, which is normal because i don’t remember a lot of things from that show. but that’s why there’s YOUTUBE.

i deduce he’s going to play Franklin, he has a sophisticated sort of look about him with an edge, and he and Tara/Rutina would look sweet together. but he could just as well be Cooter, tho i imagined him to be younger.

i hope more actors come out of the woodwork so i’ll know who’s playing who.

with the reading taking place on Dec. 1 i hope that means shooting the 1st ep. won’t be too far behind.
