I really didn’t like the placement of the fangs at first. Not what I’m used to seeing & it doesn’t make logical sense to me. The canines are the fangs of mammals.. not the incisors. Dogs bite just fine with their fangs being where they are. & during the True Blood show, it is mentioned that vampires evolved from humans…… not snakes.
But all that aside, I do admit, it looks better aesthetically for the fangs to be placed in that location.
Well, dog canines are also in the same line of their incisors and eye teeth. Ours are more curved so we have to bite forward a bit farther to get our canines into something. You can see a great example of this say… by biting into an apple but pulling your teeth out before biting the chunk off. the lateral incisors are more ‘in line’ with our eye teeth so it would be easier for a vampire to sink its fangs in.
I normally feel the canines are the ‘fang teeth’ but *shrug* I’ve grown to kinda like the laterals being the fangs instead. I love how the normal tooth folds up into the gums to let the fangs flick forward.
