CASTING NEWS: Alfre Woodard to Guest on True Blood

Wow, the news is coming in fast today! The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Alfre Woodard will guest star on True Blood in season 3 as Lafayette’s mom (and Tara’s aunt). That’s right, the casting call we posted last week for Ruby Jean Reynolds is indeed Lafayette’s mom. Described as “intensely religious and viciously homophobic”, Ruby Jean is clearly deranged and confined to a mental health institution.

Thanks for the head’s up, Lesley. In case you missed the earlier announcements, Franklin Mott and Sam’s mom have both been cast. Stay tuned for more casting news!

what i pleasant surprise! i was actually watching “Crooklyn” last night… she always plays a formidable woman, i think this will be a bit of a way off the beaten path for her, though. she’ll be an awesome addition to the cast, and looks like she could be Nelsan’s mother in reality!

wow, i gotta tell my mom about this!

I’m excited about this. I really respect her as an actress.
