Joe Manganiello Used The Internet to Get Audition

In an interview with the one tree hill connection, a podcast for One Tree Hill fans, True Blood‘s most anticipated new character of season 3 revealed that he used the Internet and fan interest to get in front of Alan Ball to read for True Blood. Joe Manganiello says it was his fans who brought the role of Alcide to his attention.

“Facebook and the internet were integral to me getting this part. There are True Blood bloggers that were fans of the books. They knew this character was coming up, that it appeared in book three, so they knew it was coming up for season 3. They would blog about who should play the character, and some of these bloggers put up pictures of me.”

A friend brought the fan posts to his attention, so after taking a look at the character in the books, he called his manager and agent to put him up for the part and started posting links to the fan posts on his Facebook page. His hard work (and that of his fans) paid off, and after three auditions (originally he read for a different werewolf; maybe Coot?) he landed the role. Listen to more of Joe’s story, including his feelings on landing the role and how he’s getting in shape, the one tree hill connection.
