True Blood Season 3: Who Is Talbot?

By  |  2 Comments

Welcome to the tenth in a series of features about the new characters coming to True Blood in season 3. We’ll be taking a look at these new characters using both information from casting calls and from the novels on which the show is based. Beware, spoilers ahead!

Who Is Talbot?

True Blood continues to expand on characters who are merely peripheral in the books for season 3’s storylines. Talbot is one such character getting an upgrade. When we meet him in the third book, Club Dead, Talbot is the human companion of Russell Edgington, King of Mississippi. He is later supplanted in Russell’s affections by the King of Indiana, and that’s about all the information we’re given about the character in the books.

On the show, however, it appears that Talbot will have a much more substantial role. To begin with, he is a vampire and has been with Russell for around 700 years. He’s described as “extremely good-looking” and has a sarcastic personality to go with his underwear model body. The first time we meet Talbot on True Blood is episode 3.02 when he’s giving Bill the grand tour of the Mississippi mansion to which Bill has been “invited”, so expect a healthy dose of sarcasm right off the bat as he interacts with their guest.

Our first photo of Talbot from the show has him in a somewhat belligerent stance; perhaps he and Russell are going through a rocky period in their relationship. Talbot must not be all barbs and witticisms, though, because Russell has a conversation about love with Bill that touches on the idea of relationships that last for centuries as opposed to decades. As Russell says, “Spend eternity together – that’s commitment.”
