Friday Five: Reasons for Watching Season 3

There are about a million reasons for watching season 3 of True Blood, but I’m going to list my top five.

  1. Writing. Alan Ball and his company of writers are some of the best in television today. There is no end to their creativity. I can’t wait to see what they come up with this season.
  2. Casting. James Frain, Theo Alexander, Joe Manganiello, Denis O’Hare, Lindsay Pulsipher, Alfre Woodard (!), Kevin Alejandro, Brit Morgan, real wolves – just to name a few. Need I say more?
  3. Plots. Bill is kidnapped; Sookie goes looking for him; werewolves revealed; Sam visits family; Tara finds more excitement; whew! And that’s just the tip of the iceberg!
  4. Music. We have been romanced by Nathan Barr‘s haunting cello sounds for two seasons. Season 3 promises more, plus a “fresh new score” as mentioned on his website.
  5. Set Designs. Wasn’t that Dallas hotel from last season gorgeous? And Merlotte’s is always so charming and ‘lived in’ that we just can’t wait to get back there again. Sookie’s house represents the southern charm left behind by Gran and loved by Sookie. Fangtasia’s cellar gave us that cold, clammy feel mixed with horrors unseen. From the photos and preview videos we’ve seen, I’m just itching for a look at Russell Edgington’s mansion.

What’s on your list?

Over-night fan (almost literally) of the Sookie Stackhouse series since early 2008. Co-owner of True-Blood.net. Anxiously anticipating season 6.
