Friday Five: Things We Are Looking Forward To at Comic Con

Mel and I are going to be heading out west, next week, for the 2010 San Diego Comic Con event that we’ve been attending for the last few years. My feelings are always mixed the week before we leave. First of all, I hate to fly. Second, I hate flying. Third, well, you get the picture. Mixed up with that are feelings of excitement and that’s what today’s Friday Five is all about.

  1. True Blood Panel: These are always fun and exciting because sometimes we get some spoilers, and always, we get to see the cast having fun with each other.
  2. Charlaine Harris Panel: This year, Charlaine gets her very own panel and we couldn’t be more excited about that. We’ve been privileged in the past to talk with her on the phone and we met her at the first Comic Con we attended. I also met her last year when she was in the Chicagoland area for a book signing. She’s an awesome woman and we adore her.
  3. Photos: This year we are bringing our own photographer, and I can’t wait to see what she’ll grab for us. She’s my niece and a photography student, majoring in something photog, at NIU.
  4. Costumes: Comic Con is the place to be for people watching. It’s fun to see how creative people get with their costumes. It’s also fun to see if we can spot a famous talent. Last year, Chris Daughtry was walking around in full Batman gear. Who knew?
  5. Truebies! We love meeting you all face-to-face!  Now that Mel and I are on video, we should be easy to spot. So if you see us, come on up and talk with us. We met so many of you last year and it was so much fun. We even caught up with some of you for dinner one evening! So don’t be shy. And if you can do it, dress up as your favorite True Blood character.

The first year we attended Comic Con, Stephen Moyer kissed my hand – twice. Last year, Mel charmed a hat off of a really cute guy. How can we top that this year? Hmm, stay tuned!

Over-night fan (almost literally) of the Sookie Stackhouse series since early 2008. Co-owner of True-Blood.net. Anxiously anticipating season 6.
