True Blood Fashion Q&A: Sam’s Jeans, Bill’s Jacket, Lafayette’s Shirt

True Blood sure knows how to dress their cast, often resulting in “where can I get that?” emails to us after an episode airs. If we get enough inquiries about an item, we’ll do our best to get the details for you, usually straight from the source – True Blood costume designer Audrey Fisher. This week we answer emails about the boys’ attire.

Bill's leather jacket is by Vince

Q: I’m one of the many men addicted to “V”. I’m curious about who makes the stylish threads and boots the dudes wear on TB. Specifically Bill’s leather jacket, pants and boots. Or Sam’s boots and jeans. Help a Truebie out! – Jason

A: We’re here to serve, Jason! We suspected that Sam’s jeans were Wranglers (uh, not that we were looking…), and Audrey confirmed that they are indeed Sam’s jeans of choice. Sam’s boots are vintage Noconas, so hit up Goodwill or your local vintage store and see what you can find.

Bill has worn both Varvatos and Stitch’s jeans this season, and his boots are also Varvatos. The brown leather jacket Bill wears while talking to Jessica is by Vince, similar to this one (meanwhile, that model looks like a cross between Bill and Alcide). Happy shopping!

Nelsan Ellis wears a one-of-a-kind t-shirt on True Blood

Lafayette's yellow tee is a "knock off of a knock off"

Q: Where can I find the shirt Lafayette wore during “Night On The Sun”? – Val

A: We’re guessing you mean the yellow one with the Billie Holiday-esque face, right? Audrey reports that she found the shirt at a random shop in downtown L.A., and it’s a “knock off of a knock off” not really available elsewhere. You could probably create one as a DIY project, though. Find a heathered yellow tee, cut the neckline to be slightly off the shoulder, and iron on a semi-transparent image of Billie Holiday. If you do make your own, send us a photo!

Got a wardrobe question? Drop us a line and we’ll do our best to find the answer. Next week: back to the ladies!
