SPOILERS: True Blood Season 4 New Character

By  |  85 Comments

This isn’t really new considering Alan Ball said as much at Comic Con last month, but Ausiello is reporting “exclusively” that Hallow Stonebrook will be part of True Blood season 4. For those unfamiliar with the books, Hallow is a witch (or “necromancer” as Alan calls her) who is involved in a witch war that leads to a spell being cast on Eric which is a life-changing event for him and for Sookie.

Hallow is described as a tall, slim brunette; who would you cast?

Did Alan Ball say whether or not he’ll be introducing Niall Brigant (Sookie’s Great Grandfather) next season and whether or not he’s cast the role yet?

    • Mel

      August 17, 2010 at 3:07 pm

No and no. None of the new season 4 characters have been cast yet to our knowledge.

    • Anna

      August 23, 2010 at 10:49 pm

I really really hope Niall is casted. That would just be great.

      • Candace

        August 29, 2010 at 8:02 pm

Why would you even think Niall would even be casted already? He is so much later in the story line (if they even want to stay somewhat true to the books), and his whole introduction to Sookie happens after the werewolf showdown, the witch cast, the incident where Sookie gets the new roommate etc… So much more left to cover. Let’s at least let them get a couple more seasons out before you start talking about introducing someone like that.

OK but where the hell is Bubba?

      • Mel

        August 30, 2010 at 8:44 pm

Alan has said over and over and over and over that Bubba will not be on the show.

sweet. “necromancer” makes me think of Anita Blake.

    • Lauren Elaine

      August 23, 2010 at 2:11 pm

OH MAN! Anita Blake… the most badass vampire hunter there ever was.

I’m pretty sure no women could ever be as much a scourge upon vampire kind as much as The Executioner.

I’m not sure how I feel about him calling Hallow a “necromancer” though…. Ugh.

P.S. Is anyone else getting a little more annoyed with AB each new Sunday? After last night I about wanted to pull my hair out.

Hmmm…. I am very curious to see how the story line for next season is written. I can’t see the show going with the lost memory story line. Don’t get me wrong I am VERY excited to see what develops with Sookie and Eric, I just feel like the reason for Eric staying with Sookie may be different than in the books. The lost memory story line has been done many times before and I feel like Alan Ball will come up with a creative way of putting Sookie and Eric in close quarters. Maybe Eric will be hiding out at Sookie’s? What do you guys think?

    • darlana

      August 23, 2010 at 10:53 am

      here’s what i think:
      – eric will die fighting russel
      – sook will destroy the king
      – witches’ll put a spell on bill (and we’ll have next few books on screen just with sook and bill)… ugh…

      • Debbie

        August 27, 2010 at 5:31 am

Not a chance – Beside Eric being in every Sookie Stackhouse book so far, Eric/Alex has too large a fan base and it would be detrimental to the series ratings wise to kill him off – whether you want to see hum with Sookie or not

    • rhonda

      August 23, 2010 at 11:33 am

well yeah but its in the book and thats why sookie and eric should be together in the book they are married.

I tossed out a few names on the comment board in his column. The one really sticking with me is Famke Janssen. They must have already cast the role as she has to appear near the end of the season.

That’s a really good pick for Hallow!

do u think yvette could turn out to be hallow, just a thought.

        • Marie

          August 23, 2010 at 3:19 pm

I want to go on record NOW as saying i have thought that Yvetta is Hallow right from the start!!!!! i have had various trubies tell me i’m mad but i see it, and the senario that i played out to my husband is coming true!!!!!!!!!! right before my eyes in episode 10!!! she will be a rejected knightmare and make Eric pay and cast a spell is my thinking…..

          • Mel

            August 23, 2010 at 3:26 pm

If Yvetta is Hallow, then why is Alan Ball casting the role? Wouldn’t he already have her?

          • Amy

            August 23, 2010 at 6:25 pm

Alan Ball has been known to put out fake casting calls to throw off the fans. I think Yvette is Hallow, too. I also think the season finale will be Sookie finding Eric on the road to her house…

            August 23, 2010 at 8:55 pm

I also wonder if Jesus would be her brother and why does he always wear purple. Has anyone else thought that. I think there is something up w/ him.

    August 17, 2010 at 10:45 pm

I think they should cast Hallow as real butch, we have enough pretty, let’s get real, some women are sexy when they look sorta mannish…hubba hubba

    • Anna

      August 23, 2010 at 10:52 pm

Seriously, that’s how I always pictured her in the books as a really butch ugly hag.

  7. StaceyJ

    August 18, 2010 at 12:37 am

I think Evangilene Lilly would be perfect.
    She is really pretty.

  8. Jen

    August 18, 2010 at 7:21 am

Angelina Jolie, although she would make a better Vampire I think.

    • Andrea

      August 20, 2010 at 6:39 am

haha, she would be more of a Sucubus

    • Lori

    Malinda Clarke would be perfect!

  11. Andrea

    August 18, 2010 at 11:58 am

I don´t know you huys, but I kinda imagine Keira Knightley for the role
jejeje, since I read the books I imagined her (even though I´m not really a fan of her), or also I think of Rose Mcgowan (yes I know she was in charmed)

    xD

    • Chelsea

      August 20, 2010 at 6:13 am

I agree! Rose would be fabulous.

      • dreamcatcher76

        August 24, 2010 at 6:55 pm

Rose would be good. Also think Famke Jensen is a good option. And Genevieve Cortese

  12. wendi

    August 18, 2010 at 7:11 pm

This is just me… after reading th book I could see the character of Hallow being played by Jamie Murray( she played “Lila Tournay” on a season of Dexter) She has the darkest eyes and a little twist of intrigue since Hallow is a Were and a Witch!!!!

    • wendi

      August 18, 2010 at 7:17 pm

She has also been in “Hustle” and she is Bill Murray’s daughter!!!

      • dan

        August 21, 2010 at 9:16 pm

She is not the daughter of bill murray we know. She is british and the daughter of a british Billy murray. Not ghostbusters, stripes bill murray.

        • wendi

          August 23, 2010 at 4:03 pm

Yea I know, mre people actually know him as Billy Murray

    August 19, 2010 at 10:01 am

After reading all of the books, AB must go with Eric’s lost memory. Its how their(Eric & Sookie) relationship evolves. Thers really no going around it. I can’t waittillthey get rid of Bill…he is so boring .

    • Mugsyloo

      August 19, 2010 at 3:36 pm

I think Mena Sevari would be good…and she already ahs the Alan Ball connection since she was in American Beauty.

    • Sarah

      August 20, 2010 at 2:55 pm

Diane–As a lover of the Eric/Sookie relationship, I don’t think it is ever going to come to fruition. I think there will be something but if the past three seasons are any indication-Bill and Sookie are here to stay. Yes, we see glimpses of the Eric from the books but for the most part not a single Eric/Sookie moment has been played out. In fact, Bill has played out quite a few of the Eric moments. I wouldn’t hold your breath that Bill will ever be “out of the picture.”

As for who I would cast as Hallow–Marcia Cross, Debi Mazar or Selma Blair.

      • Char

        August 22, 2010 at 9:44 pm

I would have to agree. Alan Ball has said he sees Sookie and Bill as soulmates..GAG ME! Sorry I just am such an Eric and Sookie fangirl. All of the ways that Eric saved her in the books they rewrote and had Beeell do. So unless there are some MAJOR changes I don’t know it will ever be the relationship/courtship that is present in the books. But if you love reading about Sookie/Eric go to fanfiction there are some FANTASTIC writers there that do all kinds of things with this story line.

      • Anna

        August 23, 2010 at 10:55 pm

Then the rest of the seasons are going to be crap because there is very little Bill. I hope Ball isn’t that much of an idiot to ruin the series just to keep Bill & Sookie together.. There’s just no way it can work with out him chucking the books.

        • svetlana

          August 25, 2010 at 11:03 am

He can make it work, hes done it so far obviously with season 2….that was almost completely different from the book in many different aspects….

      • rooty78

        August 25, 2010 at 9:34 pm

I agree, Debbie Mazar would be a great evil woman. LOL she has those fantastic eyes and lips. Debbie would be a sultry Hallow! <3

    • mikey

      August 23, 2010 at 9:09 am

wtf I have not read the books but for the show bill works very well eric dose not he dose not balance her out it would be very bad for bill to go and if he die3s so will alot of the fans have younot sceen his following at the conventions!?

      • Linda

        August 23, 2010 at 9:44 am

        mikey;
Read the books… As other people have said, on the show, they have given Bill LOTS of the scenes that Eric SHOULD be playing. There is LOTS more chemistry between Sookie and Eric in the books. Yes, I concure with everyone else, Beeellll is BORING!!! Nothing sexy about that Civil War vet.. on the other hand a thousand year old Viking.. Yea Baby!! 🙂

        • svetlana

          August 25, 2010 at 11:01 am

But the show is only BASED on the books, its not actually the books into a show, so its in all actuallity AB’s vision. He keeps bits of the book but puts his own spin on it. Thats the whole point…I mean he could follow the books to the T but its not looking that way.

  14. Shanna

    August 19, 2010 at 7:52 pm

I think Mila Kunis would be great for Hallow

  15. Andi

    August 19, 2010 at 11:27 pm

I am wondering if Jesus is Hallow’s brother – a spiritual possible jaguar? BTW, is LaFayette’s car a Jaguar?

    • ADB

      August 20, 2010 at 10:03 am

Pretty sure the car is a Lotus. Might be wrong about that though.

    • ADB

    Rose Mcgowan… undoubtedly..

    August 20, 2010 at 6:37 am

I think Milla Jojovich would be perfect for the part of Hallow Stonebrook. She’s a badass, but kind of pretty and she’s definitely a brunette. She would probably fit in perfect with the rest of the beautiful cast.

  18. sofiane

    August 20, 2010 at 6:50 am

well i wish they cast Juliet Landau who plays drussila from buffy

  19. Kennedy

    August 20, 2010 at 4:37 pm

I was thinking about Dita Von Teese. She is very beautiful and mysterious looking. I just wonder if she can act.

    • Robyn

      August 23, 2010 at 8:58 am

Because Hallow is large on the books I would pick the blond from third rock from the sun all she needs is a dye job

  20. eve

    August 20, 2010 at 5:58 pm

i think that Hallow can’t be TOO pretty..the model types won’t work. See debbie, she looks like a real women, so does arlene and sookie. Someone who is great at being a villian. How about Faruza Balk? I think thats how u spell her name. The witch in movie The Craft. Thats a wicth!

  21. Candee

    August 21, 2010 at 6:17 pm

How about…me. Just kidding. I’m too fat for that.

It SHOULD, however, be an unknown-up-and-comer. Or whatever they call those. And no one really comes to mind. I’d kinda like the woman who plays Trish in SLC Punk!, although she’s probably too old.

The girl who makes Eric lose his memory is fairly young, right? I can’t remember. Because he wouldn’t sleep with her…or wouldn’t sleep with her again…or something.

Goodness, I wish they’d bring in Buffy Alum. just for gee wiz. It’d be great.

  22. Karmousa

    August 21, 2010 at 8:24 pm

I’m really happy about the amnesia storyline since that was one of my fave books but again not gonna get my hopes to high about that given how this season is almost over and not really any E/S banter and fun conversation scenes except for that dream of erics. Either way still curious how Ab will spin it. I like others also don’t mind the plot changes yet try to view books and show diff but get defensive when they mess with the characters. On a side note does anyone else think Hadley fits the description of book Sookie?

    • Lauren Elaine

      August 23, 2010 at 2:18 pm

      OH MAN YESSS!!!

My best friend and I say that almost everytime she comes on screen.

Hadley from the show is how Sookie was SUPPOSED to look….

  23. Emmanuel Bruyère

    August 22, 2010 at 4:51 am

    Megan Fox!!!!!!!

    • Kirsti

      August 22, 2010 at 11:59 am

I think she’s to young and pretty for the part.

  24. Kirsti

    August 22, 2010 at 11:58 am

    Maybe Kate Beahan…

  25. Tim

    August 22, 2010 at 1:23 pm

    I’d cast Rachel Zeskind.
She’s dark, sultry, with a husky voice, banging body, and she can kick some serious ass!

  26. Sara

    August 22, 2010 at 5:53 pm

I think Rose McGowan or Selma Blair

  27. Heather

    August 22, 2010 at 11:34 pm

My picks are: Liv Tyler (daughter of Steven Tyler, the lead singer of Aerosmith) & Mageina Tovah (who played Ursula in the Spider-Man movies) if she darkened her hair.

  28. grayskies

    August 23, 2010 at 1:49 am

Amy Acker, she’s 5′ 8″, tall for an actress. It would be great to her on this show, and playing this part. So necromancers have the ability/knowledge to bring people back from the dead. So does this mean the hallow which will make Eric’s heart beat again? I guess that might change his and Sookie’s relationship?

  29. joshua

    August 23, 2010 at 11:05 am

I say have charlotte arnold from degrassi as hallow

  30. rhonda

    August 23, 2010 at 11:34 am

I just wanted them to bring in BUBBA he was main part in all the wars and protecting sookie… please cast a bubba

    • Red

      August 23, 2010 at 12:51 pm

Won’t happen, the people in charge of “Bubba’s” estate will not allow it, it’s a legal issue.

*I specifically didn’t use the name because not everyone has read the books.

      • Ivy

        That’s a good one! lol….

    August 23, 2010 at 2:46 pm

I think Faruza Balk would be great as Hallow. Good thinking Eve! I read that Eric will have amnesia in season 4, so I`m hoping for a Sookie/Eric hookup. I just hope Eric having amnesia isn`t the only reason Sookie falls for him. I hope he tells her about Russell killing his family, and about Pam and the Magister so she will know his true motives. She doesn`t need to think that he was really working with Russell against her. Does anyone else think that Yvetta will play some sort of part in Eric`s getting amnesia? She was pretty angry at him in last nights episode.

    • taba

      August 24, 2010 at 12:15 pm

yes i do think yvette and also will be part of the amnesia. She could be hallow and jesus as her brother. just a thought, but who knows were AB will take it.

  32. Ivy

    August 23, 2010 at 6:24 pm

I think that in the last 2 episodes Eric will be cleared of all his “wrong doing” in the eyes of Sookie. She will still maintain her distance from him, but now with a bit of doubt about his overall intentions…like maybe there is more to Eric then just vampire politics…As for the plot line in story 4, I believe that it will go with the book…at least the main plot. Book 4 cannot be ignored and it is the base for Eric and Sookie’s future “relationship”. For all those who love the books know that Eric is the true principle and Bill is just one of the obsticles in his relationship with Sookie. It’s like a spanish soap opera…the main guy and girl start off with like that I don’t like him but at the same time I do…. something gets in the way….(Bill)… but then something happens (Dead to the World)..which put the 2 principles how the audience wants them…but then that gets old so something else happens (end of book 4)…things become unclear and we are back to square one (book 5)…But now Eric is being viewed as the love interest without even being it…for now….???

  33. jADA

    August 25, 2010 at 10:21 am

Salma Blair would be a great Hollow. I am not a Lindsey Lohan fan but she could be a “Hollow’. I know that she loves the show.

  34. TrystinD

    August 26, 2010 at 9:14 pm

I would like to see Rachel Weiss or Rhona Mitra in the part of hollow.

  35. Steph

    August 28, 2010 at 2:28 pm

I always got the impression that although Hallow was a scary and powerful character, she wasn’t classically attractive. So I think if AB casts someone that is thought of as conventionally pretty then that should be downplayed. Of course, he has ignored a lot of characteristics as they are in the books, which, although I do like the series and I’m kind of glad it’s not following the books right to the letter, some of these kinda tick me off. C’mon…Sam not only a thief but a murderer? Calvin a woman-abusing meth pusher? Some of it’s just too way off base for me, and I do find myself annoyed by these things.

  36. mirna

    August 28, 2010 at 9:54 pm

may be I am one of the few who has never read the books but still a huge eric/sookie fan. as someone said before, a civil war vet doesn’t stand a chance against a tall blond viking. I think even on screen, eric and sookie have a wonderful chemistery.

  37. Amber

    August 29, 2010 at 3:54 am

i think bill and sookie should stay together. he is soooo hot anna paquin is soooooo lucky!!eric is too feminine to end up with sookie and bill is sexy and misterious

When is Quinn gonna come into the picture???????

  40. Angie

    August 30, 2010 at 3:03 pm

Quinn should be played by Stone Cold Steve Austin of WWE & Expendables fame. No better visual for the vampire contingent of Eric & Bill to demonstrate that maybe Sookie doesnt need them as much as they think she does. I think it would be good to see them both on the back foot: sure, they’re strong but then so is Quinn. And he ain’t dead! I think the fact he’s alive would really upset them as there is no way they can compete with that. Can you imagine all the brilliant lines about Sookie’s new beau being a Tiger in bed! SC Steve Austin with his shirt off? sign me up!!! I also really want to see Sam in that Were fight when he’s not the cuddly collie we expect – go on Sam, lets see you crack some Were skulls!

  41. AthenaG

    August 31, 2010 at 12:44 am

I think Famke Janssen would be a FANTASTIC Hallow! OR, or, or, Megan Fox….mmmmmm…Megan Foxxxxxx!

    • AthenaG

      August 31, 2010 at 1:06 am

Liv Tyler or Fairuza Balk would also be AMAZING! Jennifer Carpenter, Shannon Elizabeth, Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway, would also be good for the part (in my opinion).

  42. Cynthia

    September 2, 2010 at 12:14 am

Eric will be in the next season.
    if you look on imdb,
he is already listed in the first couples of episodes.
    Addind on that. russel isnt
