True Blood Holiday Gift Ideas: Television

By  |  0 Comments

‘Twas 18 days before Christmas and all through the house…

If you’re like me, you are still shopping for holiday gifts for family and friends. Well, maybe family is taken care of, but what about your friends? You know, the ones who came to your house each Sunday night to watch True Blood with you; the ones you’ve chatted with on our message board and in the live chat we held during each show. You want to get them a little something for their stocking or under their tree, but what?

To help you out, we’ve put together a list of television and film ideas from the vampire/paranormal genre, that you can share with those who enjoy them as much as you. Then, while  you wait for True Blood to return, get together for a supernatural movie night!

  • True Blood -Season Two: Of course this would be at the top of our list! This is available in the HBO Shop as a gift set, paired with the soundtrack from the show.
  • The Vampire Diaries: The Complete First Season: You’ve heard us talk about this show on our podcasts many times and we think a lot of you are watching it too. Maybe you know someone who is jonesing for True Blood and would really enjoy something vampire-y. Introduce then to The Vampire Diaries with the season 1 dvd set, also in Blu-ray. If anyone can rival Eric Northman it’s Damon Salvatore. Yes, I said it!
  • Moonlight: The series that started it all! Pick up this entire series on dvd for your friends, family, and while  you’re at it, treat yourself. Fall head over heels for Mick St. John as we did.
  • Dark Shadows: The 1966 series was basically a soap opera in the afternoon, but it was popular in its day and it was a lot of fun! Begin with the first collection and the rising of Barnabas Collins. With the news that Johnny Depp has taken on the roles as Barnabas Collins in the new film version, you are going to want to know what the buzz is all about. This dvd collection will catch you up. Also, head on over to Blog of Dark Shadows for all the latest news on the movie, Johnny and more.
  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer: I know many Truebies were Buffy fans. This gift is for you. The complete series in one boxed set is available on dvd. This would be the perfect gift for your favorite co-worker. Get your team together and pitch in for this set! Or simply grab the individual seasons that are also available.
  • Angel: Of course, no Buffy fan can resist owning Angel as well. As with Buffy, this is also available in a complete set or in the individual seasons.
  • Supernatural: This series is now in its sixth season, something no one expected but everyone hoped for. Share it with your friends this holiday season. Pick up seasons 1-4, or the individual seasons separately.
  • Ghost Whisperer:  Melinda Gordon had a unique gift – she could talk to and see the dead. For five seasons she dealt with troubled spirits who for whatever reason, had not “gone into the light”.  It was an adventure each week and we usually cried at the end with Melinda. Put this on your gift-giving list for that one who loves ghost stories.
  • Medium: Though the show is coming to its end, it spent six seasons entertaining us with Allison Dubois’s ability to help solve cases for the Phoenix district attorney’s office via dreams and visions. The first 5 seasons in one box set is the perfect gift for the fan of crime drama and supernatural.
  • The Dead Zone: Johnny has been in a coma for six years, after suffering a horrible car accident. His perfect life has disintegrated in the meantime – his fiancee married someone else, his mother died, and he has a son. Gifted with psychic visions of the past and future, Johnny must navigate the world and relationships while learning to use his new psychic powers. Give someone on your list season 1 on DVD and let them get to know this series based on the Stephen King novel.

Over-night fan (almost literally) of the Sookie Stackhouse series since early 2008. Co-owner of True-Blood.net. Anxiously anticipating season 6.
