Charlaine Harris Says Only Two More Sookie Books

All good things must come to an end, even in Sookieland. Charlaine Harris, the author of our beloved heroine, recently told the L.A. Times, “Truthfully, the next two books will probably be the last two books in the series. I still love Sookie, but I’m beginning to want to write something else, and Sookie’s kind of taken over my life. I was able to write other things for the first few years I was involved in Sookie, but then after the start of the television show she took over so much of my time because of my increased publicity obligations that it’s been very hard to write other things, and I really need to do that.”

I can’t say that I blame Ms. Harris. Once Sookie hit our television screens she became much bigger than her creator ever imagined. With coffee mugs, costumes, comic books and now an online game, Dying for Daylight, which launches Feb. 11., Sookie has become gargantuan. Sookie shows up in novellas that have been written as well. And we’ve got Harper Connelly to look forward to. I think two more and out works for me.
