TV Guide has a nugget of fresh True Blood scoop for us this week, seeming to confirm a speculation Liz & I, er, speculated in a recent podcast:

Thanks for the True Blood spoilers. Got anything else? —James
NATALIE: Remember that creepy doll we saw at Jessica and Hoyt’s new home in the season finale? “I can tell you that the doll is more than just a doll,” executive producer Alan Ball tells us. “That doll has a passenger.”

Hidden camera?

  1. Eva says:

Most likely is Hallow. That’s my guess.

    • Laura says:

That’s what i thought aswell. i knew that doll was too creepy not to have anything to do with the true blood plot at all :) …. i will admit i will be very creeped out if the doll starts talking haha

      • Mel says:

I’ll admit, that’s my worst fear with the doll plot. Considering all the other creepy, gross stuff that happens on this show, that’s rather ironic. :D

      • Linda says:

        just like Lala’s dolls…

    • Dens says:

oooh, I hadn’t thought about that – I mean it was obvious something was up with the doll, but it didn’t occur to me it could be Hallow

    • Megan says:

Now I’m no real expert but I have seen every episode and I really believe it has to do with that little short thing Hoyt tried to be with to get over Jessica. Because remember all those dolls she had him carrying around? Also when she when to Hoyt’s mother crying Mrs Thortanberry said its not over by a long shot. That lady is CRAZY and so is the shorty. I hope Jessica eats ‘em both. :)

  2. Christina says:

I hope the doll plot won’t be too creepy either, ever since I watched Chucky and Dolls as a child I am deathly afraid of talking dolls.

  3. Lydia says:

Talking Tina (Twilight Zone) is all I could think of when I saw that doll at the end of last season.

  4. Katharine says:

If there ends up being enough footage with which to work, some True Blood fan is totally going to have to make a “Creepy Doll” video to Jonathan Coulton’s song. :)

  5. K. says:

I think the doll has something to do with Arlene and her baby….

  6. Evelyn says:

I forgot about the doll. Ever since I watched Chucky I’ve been freaked out with any show with creepy dolls.

  7. Gisela says:

I think that doll is from Hoyt’s ex-girlfriend and she has been helped by Hallow to put something into it, like a presence or something like that, to separate Jessica and Hoyt.

  8. That Guy says:

I think everyone figured that the doll is more than that. Alan Ball doesn’t give something attention for no reason. However I hadn’t really considered it being linked to Hallow at all, but maybe. I just figured it had to do with Summer more than anything since she was a doll addict like Hoyt’s mom. Like she’s stalking Hoyt now or something. I guess she could get some help from Hallow though, to take revenge or something.

However I realized something from the sneak peek scene from Paleyfest, if those guys are recording the whole thing, they got Jessica’s face with fangs out on camera really close up. If they put that on the internet or get it shown on TV, there’s a chance that her human family will see it and come looking for her. Huston we might have a problem.

  9. Jen says:

All very concrete ideas, but if you recall in Season 1 when Hoyt and Jessica first got togther they were complaining about their parents to eachother. Hoyt stated that his mother collects dolls and puts them in his bedroom closet, which he hates. I think the doll is from his mother and I think she’s gone to someone or something to put a spell, curse, whatever on it to interfere with Hoyt and Jessica’s relationship. You remember she said, “We’re not done yet, not by a long shot.” She was also seen purchasing a gun in a store in the last episode of Season 3. It may be a collaboration of an evil plan with Hoyts mother and Summer, that girl that Hoyts mother hand picked to throw at him in order to get him away from Jessica. Just a thought.

    • That Guy says:

That’s what I was thinking too.

    • Linda says:

I was thinking, that when Mrs. Fortenberry bought the gun, she was going to try to shoot Jessica, and somehow or another miss and shoot Hoyt instead. Jessica being able to save him, but wouldn’t it be interesting if she had to change him…. just a thought.

      • That Guy says:

I think that sort of thing might come up, but I think she’ll just end up healing him and not having to actually turn him. From what I can gather no one is really interested in Jessica having to turn Hoyt. Besides, there’s more drama in a human-vampire couple anyway. Especially with the Anti-Vampire groups gaining steam from Russell’s stunt last season.

  10. Bethany says:

In the books Hallow casts her spell using a witch that Chow attacks and when she is killed the spell gets cast on Eric. Maybe this doll is what puts the curse on him since they wrote Chow out apparently? It could not only be a vessel for Hallow but also maybe the vessel for the curse? I LOVE it. :)

  11. pepper says:

I don’t think it has anything to do with the witches. Ghosts for Hoyt and Jessica this season.

  12. alcat says:

what if the doll is maryanne coming back thru the doll u never no

  13. Jane says:

Don’t forget that Summer (the girl that Hoyt’s mother tried to get his son with) had a thing for dolls…

  14. Mariah says:

Remember Hoyt’s Ex Summer had that crazy obsession with dolls?

  15. Sanaa30 says:

I don’t think that doll has anything to do with the witches. I believe that’s a different story line. Maybe Hoyt’s mother or summer is using the doll to do some type of voodoo on Hoyt so he would leave Jessica. They are in the state of LA.

  16. rhoda says:

remember at the end we all saw the doll.in the house.but also remember hoyts mom and summer in the store where that church that had all the wooden bullets .i think they r going to try to shoot jessica with a wooden bullet.i hope not .the doll being left there i think is where hoyts mom and summer was there.and summer lost the doll.
