True Blood S4 Discovers More Vampire Bill

Rolling Stone has an True Blood season 4 piece in their June 23rd issue with some interesting bits to chew on from Alan Ball and Stephen Moyer. Stephen talks about this season being all about witches, Wiccans and warlords, but it also sets up the love triangle with Sookie, Bill and Eric. Alan says, “It’s easy to wonder, ‘Oh, who is Sookie gonna pick?’ ” says Alan Ball, the show’s creator. “I know it’s female wish fulfillment, but it’s also like, ‘Well, who gets the prize?’ All the vampires are going, ‘She’s mine, she’s mine,’ but why should she be anybody’s? Why shouldn’t they be hers? Why do men always get to make all the rules?” This statement sums up our attitude here at True-Blood.net, and it’s why we are Team Sookie all the way.

Stephen adds that we will see Bill in a flashback again, but not during the Civil War as we’ve seen him before. Based on the promos we’ve seen so far, we’re thinking 1980s perhaps? “We go way back in history in order to move the story along. There’s a quite surprising flashback that takes Bill back to a place where I really wasn’t expecting him to have been.”

While no official announcement has been made regarding a fifth season, there have been enough hints at it happening. However, leave it to Alan Ball to drop a pebble in the pond with these words: “I am negotiating for a season past this one,” he says. “But I don’t believe True Blood is 100 percent dependent on my participation. It has a very strong following and a really strong cast, and there could be a future where I step back and the show would continue.” (Sigh) While I agree that True Blood is strong enough to survive a change in showrunners, personally I don’t think it will be the same show without the genius of Alan. I would be sad.
