Janina Gavankar joins True Blood season 4 as Luna, a sexy schoolteacher who thinks Sam wears his jeans well. True-Blood.net talked with Janina for an exclusive interview airing on this week’s True Blood Radio vodcast, but we thought we’d tease you with some tidbits to whet your appetite.
Luna only has eyes for Sam.
It sounds like Sam Merlotte is finally going to be lucky in love. We bonded over our love for the character with Janina remembering, “The second I saw Sam in the first episode I thought, ‘That’s my man’.” She also recounts her audition for the role, which she insisted involve “macking on Sam Trammell,” whether the scene called for it or not.
This is not Janina’s first vampire show.
Janina co-starred in last summer’s ABC series The Gates, a show about vampires living in the ‘burbs. In an interesting twist, The Gates filmed in Shreveport, LA, so Janina was already familiar with the geography of the True Blood universe. She created a backstory for Luna involving the area which she proceed to “terrify” Alan Ball with at one point.
Janina cheated at the True Blood Dig Deeper game.
An admitted “completist” with a love of technology, Janina was as hooked on the Dig Deeper game as we were! She had an ace up her sleeve, though, and took her laptop to a table read where she quizzed True Blood writer Alex Woo in particular for answers to the clues. Don’t worry, we gave her plenty of grief for cheating.
This is just the tip of the iceberg! Listen to our interview with Janina Gavankar and fall in love with this feisty, funny, sexy actress in this week’s episode of True Blood Radio.
