SPOILERS: True Blood Season Finale Spoilers from TV Guide
The new issue of TV Guide Magazine spills some details on the True Blood season 4 finale that are sure to get people talking. Because we don’t talk about this show enough, obviously.
Hankie up, True Blood fans. Not everyone survives the Halloween clash between vampires and witches in the fourth-season finale. “There is a body count by the end,” says creator Alan Ball. “It’s more than one death – people we know and love – and it’s pretty shocking.” Alan also says that Antonia is the toughest foe that Bill, Eric, Pam and Jessica have ever fought; that Sookie’s decision choosing between Eric and Bill is her toughest decision she’s ever had to make and two major past characters return. (Says Alan, “One is beloved, the other despised. One reveal is terrifying, and one is emotional and powerful.”) And finally, Alan says, “A lot of things that seemed like they were happening outside of the witch story find their way into it. You’re going to think things are finished when they are not.”
More storylines collide! Sookie decides! Characters return! Who do you think is coming back? My guess is Godric (beloved) and Russell (despised).

I don’t think they could kill off Eric. He’s too ingrained in both the show and the books. He’s such a major character that I don’t think they could do that to fans. In most cases you either have Team Bill or Team Eric. Lol. While Alex has been doing more movies I don’t think he could leave True Blood until the series reached its ultimate finale. Fans love him too much and if they tried to introduce a new Eric… I don’t think that would work out very well. There are other minor characters to think about though. Lafayette? He was killed off in book 2 if I recall and he’s still a character on the show. Plus it seems like he’s really going to be getting mixed up in this witch war. It could kill him. I think Jessica is a strong possibility as well. *SPOILER FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN’T READ BOOK 4 COMING…………………………* *Debbie is killed by Sookie in the book so I imagine that could be another one.* Russell is definitely coming back and judging from his cement episode in season 3 I imagine he’s going to be pretty pissed.
Plus…Sookie better choose Eric. Bill?? Hello…he betrayed her an almost got her killed twice. By the Rattrays and himself. She can forgive him and have feelings for him…that is natural. He was her first everything. But after what she had with Eric she can’t go back to Bill. As soon she got Bill’s blood and woke up her first thought was Eric. She even ignore poor Alcide. And this isn’t the first time she does something like this..she did it last season after Bill once more gave his blood to her. The difference that time she slap Bill first and then asked for Eric. LOL!
Whateva when the Rattrays happened he didn’t love her then she was just a mission from his queen, he learned to her and has been protecting her ever since. She’s been getting herself into trouble. Eric and Sookie’s love scenes were crap they don’t have chemistry. Sookie and Bill look betta together and they have betta chemistry

Sookie choosing between Eric & Bill – NO just NO.
Aside from the fact that Bill is so much better in the show away from her, there should be no choice to make here (especially after she now knows he let her get beaten almost to death to get his blood into her). If she doesn’t go Viking she needs some time on her own.
The beloved character could be gran again or granddaddy Earl – maybe they could talk to Sookie through Laffy now? Or maybe Eggs could communicate with Tara?
Bill did bad to her just like Eric did bad to her and she forgave Eric why not Bill. I think Bill has proven himself better in the show, letting Eric go to be with the woman he(Bill) loves so she can be happy, that’s love, I would have killed him, letting Tara go, his talk with Jessica he is so much betta as a person/vampire than Eric. Bill is good because he wants to be what is Eric?? Vampire Politics just gets in the way. Hello!!
I think it will be Maryanne and definitely Russel(but in different form!)…maybe jesus and hoyt will go bye bye!

If you think about it, Alexander Skarsgard’s been doing a LOT of movies lately. Could be wanted to move his career toward film versus tv…
I don’t think I’d like to see his character disappear. But I do know, I’d like to see the old Eric back. The softer/gentler Eric is too sappy for my taste.

I second that. I don’t think there’s anyway he would up and leave the show. I think for one he enjoys playing a viking vampire who’s in the nude a decent amount of the time and I think the producers know that if they had to replace him fans would be extremely angry. To some people it wouldn’t even be worth watching anymore.
I think that a missing Steve Newlin maybe returning, along with Russell Edginton. I wouldn’t miss Crystal, Jesus, or Hoyt if they all of a sudden disappeared.
I was looking at the preview frame by frame (no, I am not obsessed, not at all) and around the 35th second there is an ugly fae that appears (I don’t know if it is a fae or a demon). I think Nan bites it but unless Alexander Skarsgard has found a greener pasture they’d be nuts to lose him, or Bill. Lorena coming back well, has any vampire ever done that?

I like all the characters. I think instead off killing them off, they should make more episodes per each season. 12 episodes is not enough, when there are multiple storylines. I think it would be better if they slowed down the pace. It seems like the show just started and we are already at the end point.
HBO always has short seasons and even if they green lit longer seasons, they still wouldn’t have the budget to pull it off. Can you imagine almost twice as many episodes on the same budget? It would be a disaster. And True Blood is not a cheap show to make.
I think Russell is coming back for sure and everyone seems confident about that. What if it is Claudine that returns? Afterall AB did say fairies come in multiples….we assume he meant twin/triplets but what if he meant lives?
I hope Jessica doesn’t die. I think it’s going to be Tara and Debbie Pelt. I just don’t know what storyline they can give tara anymore.
The Viking, Pam or Lafayette go – I’m not watching.

I think the beloved character will be fran, coming to help sookie in the war somehow. The hated character I think will be Rev. Newlin but obviously something must have happened to him if it is terrifying.
As far as killing people… There are very few characters I can see them killing without severely upsetting a large amount of people. Maybe Hoyt I can see, and sadly I can see maybe Jessica which sucks cause she is awesome!

OK I’ve now seen a cast listing where the actress who plays Gran is on the list for ep.12 so Gran is definitely the beloved character.
Sorry I’m still on one about Sookie choosing between her 2 vamps. If Sookie chooses Bill again the show is just going round in circles and there is absolutely no character development. The whole Eric loosing his memories and Sookie seeing another side to him will have been for nothing. I try not to do the whole “Team” thing but I really feel strongly about this. When people post on other forums that Alan Ball is too pro-Bill I’ve believed it’s all in their heads but this would prove them right after all!
Trying to keep this short and sweet is hard. LOL IMO there is no way they would have agreed to do a season 5 without AS. Eric is simply too important to the storyline. Someone said the sappy Eric drove them crazy (paraphrasing here) and in the books he goes very much back to the old Eric, and then some. But because we see that part of him, he is able to be more interesting. (I really hope they can pull off some of the best parts of the 6th book, with him and Sookie being all bound and everything, since aparently they have already become so.)
I think the beloved character will be either Jessica, LaLa, or Jesus. I mean Jessica was a completely made up character, so she doesn’t really fit, and with them not involving Chow (who is the Fangtasia bartender anyway?) so he can’t be killed off, they have to lose one vamp. I don’t think Nan is “beloved” so I don’t think she factors in. But for the evil character, it seems strange that they would introduce Queen Maab and never have her show up after the first episode or two. She could pick this moment, (Sookie does call upon her powers from what I hear, so maybe it opens up the porthold again?) to try and get Sookie, and somehow the witches or vamps get her??? Just speculating. Witches don’t like Fairies, and vice-versa.
They will never kill Eric he is the show but i like to see tommy, debbie, jesus and tara. Spoiler stop reading if you don’t know this debbie is suppose to die in book four. But with Alan ball changing everything in the books who know whats going to happen.
I was expecting so much more for this season. All the past seasons were awesome and made me want to watch and know more, BUT now, it is absolutely a disaster! and I am not talking about witches and stuff, BUT I do believe that NOT EVERY character should have something supernatural going on…
The last episode… was a pain to watch… When Jesus Casts away the spirit of the black lady from Lafayette… what was that? I thought it looked out of place and corny… (reminded me of Ghost Whisperer- which in that case is acceptable because that’s what it is about- but not here. Vampires anyone?) anyway… Either they get back ERIC’s strong character back in the game, KILL Antonia- (the witch thing was fine, but Antonia and all that is too over the top), Remove TARA – (avoiding the word *kill* again) and explain what was the connection or of the black lady and baby (was it just to make obvious that Lafayette was a “medium” ? blah…)
Also… having Sookie decide between Eric and Bill… and watching the uncomfortable scene between the 3 … was not a treat at all.
Oh well… we’ll see what’s next. Hope it gets better and stop filling the episodes with story lines that are just meant to “fill a space” and “distract” us, while writers come up with better stuff…

Thanks for commenting, StrangeMe. My take on this season is almost totally the opposite of yours, but you stated your case respectfully and we sure do appreciate that.
We posted part of our interview with Alexander Skarsgard today and he mentioned that Eric is a powerful weapon for Antonia to have in her arsenal. The trance-like state he was in last week may be the precursor to the “strong” Eric we know from the past, albeit answering to a different “authority” than before.

I hope she chooses neither, it’s too early yet for her to have to decide, they need that tension going till the FINAL episode of the series. If she does choose, please let it be Eric, i rather stick needles in my eyes then have to endure another sappy love story season of her and Bill. BUT, what about Alcide? Joe had said his character will be around a lot more next season, could they merge his character with Quinn? hmmmmm
I’m dissapointed with Season 4. I thought when Eric was getting closer to Sookie, the writers would shift their focus from Bill to him. But NO, moreover they used his cursed state as a plot device just to keep Bill front and center. Isn’t it strange how the murder of a vampire King by a vampire would generate more sentiments from humans against vampires. Lastly, i don’t like how they treated the love triangle. It is too early for Sookie to decide. If they want Sookie back to Bill again, they should have never written Bill let two psychos beating Sookie near to death.
Characters returning: Gran and Rene. Not vampires. Spoilers said “spirits” and faces familiar to bon temps residents. But i could be wrong.
Body count? I hope it’s Tara. I loved her in season 1, but she has been nothing but an angry, hateful, i-had-a-rough-childhood-a vampire raped me-so-f*ckyou-bon-temps-and-everyone-in-it, vengeful person. I fast forward most Tara’s screen time.
Debbie and Holly might die.. maybe Tommy too. Ginger?
None of the main vampires would die, I think. Maybe Nan will be irrepairably injured?
Am i the only one who loves the fact that after 10 years of playing a character that despises witches and wizards, Fiona Shaw is now a witch?? Well, sort of..

Beloved character return: I’m guessing Gran will make an appearance with the help of Lafayette.
Despised character return: Based on the “Steve Newlin’s right! You’re devils of the night!” chant, I’m guessing it might be him. Which, in my opinion, would be great because I think Michael McMillian brought a lot of fun energy to the role.
Character deaths: I’m predicting Debbie and Tommy (possibly in a self-sacrificial redemption act). Possibly Marcus as well. I’d love to see Crystal Norris go, but that’s probably wishful thinking on my part. I’m wondering if Hoyt goes all Fellowship of the Sun reactionary following the breakup (that would work nicely if it is Steve Newlin who returns).
Anyway, those are my theories. Your mileage may vary!
No one has said this so i will. Sookies grandfather. Someone mentions they think its Gram..i think it could be the grandfather instead because of the super natural way he died. (loved)

Death can mean made into a vampire too, technically they are dead. My guess is Jason since he’s not a werepanther. He looks blown up in the previews last night. He’s either Dead Dead or a vamp.
I will be so pissed if Tara, Lala or Jesus gets offed, I really like them. Tara is the character we get to see what the evil Vampires can do (she’s always being abused by them) so it is not so sickly sweet.
Claudine’s brother has yet to show up except to show Sookie the portal out of Fairy land.
Debbie could die too, for following the books & put Alcide on a warpath with weres & vamps.
It could be Alcide or Sam in a were fight who die.
Hopefully Sam will turn into a Tiger to fight the Big Bad Wolf who killed his brother if Quinn doesn’t show up. Sam does turn into a Lion to help in the were pack leader fight in the books.
Half the fun of this show is it is the ULTIMATE Fan Fiction stories of the Harris’s writing. I love that it doesn’t follow the books. I like seeing a Male perspective of the book characters and I LOVE the side stories & character depths.
In defense of Tara:
Tara’s character on TB is the Opposite of Sookie for a reason. What sane person (Sookie) could watch all the evil that Vampires do, hear all the selfish thoughts of humanity and still be bubbly. Vampires are cannibals they don’t have to eat humans.
Tara is the voice of anger & righteousness against all the cruelty, torture, selfishness, racial hatred, and violence of the humans & vampires.
Sookie in the show is only bubbly to the vamps she loves that she has shared the blood with and their secret society. She’s NOT bubbly with shifters, weres, fairies, or Maenads. Tara is the offset of her fascination.
Tara’s character dilutes the “Vamps are great and are harmless” fantasy and shows they’re cruelty and a NORMAL human reaction. That is way some people can’t handle her.

I hope that Season 5 has Pam’s backstory. I’ve waiting for her background story since I learned her last name was Swynford-DeBeaufort! She’s my favorite character after Eric and I love her attitude.
I am 100% sure that since it’s Samhain, Gran will return in ghostform or perhaps possess someone. She did speak through Marnie in the beginning of the season. And Russel will def. be back in the end of the finale so they can take that storyline into the next season.
I saw the ”shocking” preview before the show aired, and you see Bill and Eric burning at the stake. Alan Ball is trying to make it look like Sookie has to choose whom to save, either Bill or Eric.
The way the show is heading right now I think she’ll choose Bill, but it seems inconceivable that they’d kill of Eric, unless Skarsgård wants out and we just don’t know about it yet.
So what’s up with that? Is Alan Ball for real or is this preview just a clever mash-up so it only LOOKS like either Eric or Bill will die?

This is a bit of a long shot… but I’m hoping Antonia resurrects Sophie-Anne because apparently Evan Rachel Wood hasn’t been officially signed off from TB! Here’s hoping.
And! Still not happy with the killing of Claudine. I’m praying it will turn out to be a bad fairy in disguise and the real Claudine will appear, thus opening the story to the fairy war for season 5!

Jeez, I hope it’s not Jessica or Jason. I love them together. I am finding their story more interesting than the Bill/Sookie/Eric debacle right now. Personally, I miss bad ass Eric. This new Eric is a little bit of a wuss for my taste. I am still loving Bill. We know Bill, Sookie and Eric will survive. I don’t think anyone else is “safe” unfortunately.
I loved tonight’s episode and can’t wait until next week. As far as the characters that will die, In my opinion I think it will be Debbie for sure, I think she will go after Sookie since Alcide dumped her. So of course this will play out somewhat like the books. Also, I think it can be Hoyt and Jesus . Neither of the characters have much left to do in the show. I think Jesus will die trying to save Laffy and getting rid of Marnie. Hoyt will just be a casualty of all that is going on. I mean since Jessica is moving on there is really no role left for him, but It is Trueblood and they could always make up some crazy part for him next season. I don’t think it could be any of the other characters like Laffy or Jessica. I think they would lose a lot of viewers if they killed off Laffy for sure. I also don’t think they would kill of Jess because her and Jason are about to start a relationship. Also it is said that Russel will be brought back, but not until next season.
i think sookie isnt going to choice anyone and go her own way cause alan ball wouldnt choice bill or eric cause he will lose viewers. and i also think tara and debbie will die. and sookie granmother is going to show up but i dont know who the other is going to be. were also going to see something new that has to do with season 5. a creature or something.
I don’t think Sookie will choose because that’s a major plot point. Her inability to choose keeps us interested and is the subject of so much debate. As far as someone coming back, I think Gran would be a safe bet based on the synopsis given for the finale. The synopsis also says that Alcide will make a plea to the woman he loves. I’m wondering if that’s Sookie and would it matter to her at all. Anyway, thank you quinnlover for your insightful remarks about Tara. As we all know from countless novels, movies, tv shows, etc. that best friends of the main character often act as the voice of reason or provide balance. Tara is reacting as any normal person would to vampires and their acts. With that being said, even if she is killed off there would be another character introduced to fill that void.
My guess is Godric and Lorena…though I am starting to think that maybe only people who have died in BT…then I speculate Adele and Maryanne….idk…the suspense is killing me!!!
