Sunday, Bloody Sunday

Just before I left for Comic Con, I was invited to a True Blood viewing party that is held monthly in the home of Truebie, Tina. They are called Bloody Sundays and Tina plays hostess to some of her friends who don’t have HBO, but thanks to Tina, they are able to enjoy episodes in the comfort of a room created for TV and movie-watching in comfort and style. The room contains the coziest recliner chairs, arranged in theater seating, and complete with a huge screen that pulls down from the ceiling. Did I mention the surround sound stereo system?

Tina has a schedule that she keeps, making the entire afternoon fun and interesting. Up first is a delicious brunch which Tina fashions in the True Blood theme of the day. This particular day, she made Blueberry Baked French Toast with bacon and Chilled Strawberry Soup. The cocktail of the day was a Bloody Sunday Cocktail in a red sugared rimmed glass, complete with fang-shaped ice.

After brunch, we headed into the “viewing room” for episode 3 of season 3, “It Hurts Me Too“. It was so much fun for me to watch that again on that huge screen with that beautiful sound. Of course it also meant that the bloody parts were big as well. 😉

Dessert was served during intermission, and it was Tina’s delicious Southern Banana Pudding. It was also time for a drawing, and yours truly won a pink ‘Fangtasia’ t-shirt and a bar of soap made by Pinx a Slice of Sudz for Pam. I was so thrilled! The soap, by the way, is beautiful, and each character soap is designed with scents that would fit her/him. For instance, Pam’s smelled like vanilla, orange, pinapple, grapefruit and cherry, and was a lovely soft pink color. Isn’t that so Pam-ish?

The afternoon wound up with a viewing of episode 4, “9 Crimes“. As we said our goodbyes, Tina had us draw a True Blood character name from a basket, and that name matched another soap by Pinx. I got Sam! My husband loves this one because it is very masculine smelling, with Mountain Pine , sandalwood, champa flowers, violet and clove blended with sensual amber, ylang ylang, patchouli and musk. My car smelled so good by the time I got home. I also begged the girls for some video footage of them talking about True Blood. Click on these links to watch!

Tina’s Bloody Sundays are one way that Truebies celebrate their favorite vampire show. With the season finale this past Sunday, how did you celebrate?

Over-night fan (almost literally) of the Sookie Stackhouse series since early 2008. Co-owner of True-Blood.net. Anxiously anticipating season 6.
