SPOILERS: True Blood 5.02 Casting Call

By  |  22 Comments

Hot on the heels of the True Blood episode 5.02 title reveal, we have the casting call for this episode. Now that True Blood season 5 is in production, we ought to be getting a bunch of spoilers and casting updates to get us through the hiatus. Yay!

As you may have guessed from the title, “Authority Always Wins” will focus on The Authority. We’ll meet Kibwe, a slender, middle-aged African gentleman vampire. He’s an Authority council member who believes in rehabilitation for prisoners over stricter punishment. Fellow council member Rosalyn Harris, a Texan with “hair high enough to interfere with air traffic”, contributes to the discussion with homespun wisdom and a firm hand. In what ought to be a hilarious role, we meet council member Alexander, an impetuous young vampire who was turned at the age of 9, who loves cigarettes and razzing his fellow council members.

Dieter Braun is mature and self-possessed, calm and authoritative, with a piercing gaze. He’s a vampire of average build who is nevertheless extremely intimidating, and he uses innovative methods to torture a prisoner during an interrogation. Presumably his prisoner is Nigel, a grotesque, scarred, burned and deformed vampire being punished for his predilection for eating babies.  *shudder*

Jason has to deal with some hurt feelings when he gets punched out by Ellis, a member of Jason’s former road crew, for sleeping with his wife. An unnamed gets in on the action, too, angry that Jason broke up his family by sleeping with his mother. Whether the boy’s mother was Ellis’ wife or someone else altogether remains to be seen.

Christine Van Heusen is a cute brunette newscaster for a CNN-type program who conducts a high-profile, in-depth interview on TV. Could this be Russell Edgington’s big comeback?

We’ll also be meeting the clerk at The Stake House,  a home protection store that sells weapons designed to hurt vampires. Clever name.

Flashback time! It’s 1905, San Francisco. We meet Washcloth Helen, a hooker who snorts cocaine and an unnamed man who is pleasant, well-dressed, and seemingly non-threatening but is actually quite dangerous. Which main character’s past are we flashing back to?

The authority councils sounds like very interesting and funny character’s individually…..I think we will meet Nora in this episode. The stake house sounds like a funny and scary place to be at…Jason and his libido always gets him in trouble…. I think this might be Pam’s turning flashback because i always thought she might have been a prostitue at one time.

I read an interview somewhere when Denis O’Hare said Russell won’t be back until mid-season but of course he may be wanting to surprise us.

So we will meet some authority members – I actually kind of like them being all mysterious and faceless.

Could the flashback be something to do with Pam – would be around when she was made???
Also she has given hints she was once a hooker.

wasn’t really a hint xD she said she was a hooker, but a long long long time ago 😛 and I think you’re right, could be Pam’s flashback and her being turned story! *squeels*

Yeah…..I think that this flashback is about Pam being turned……the authority seems like a group of interesting vampires

I thank the flashback might be Pams.Because,in season two or Three she made a comment to Lafiette. That she know hooker. But,that was her pass.Remember, that sceen was in the freezer.Cause, pam wanted to sell all the V.That is why I thank that is Pans flashback. It should be really cool.

It would be awesome if we get Pam’s turning story so early in the season. It would fit in with the Authority being in town as well – Eric (or Pam) could be recalling the event while testifying before the council members.

I don’t know if the flashback has to do with the council……I think Tara has something to do with flashback….maybe its wishful thinking on my part too …

Connect the dots for us there, esw. What makes you think the flashback could be connected to Tara?

I guess she’s referring to the (quite popular) theory that Tara will be turned, and that Pam could be the one to do it. If so, it would be the perfect moment for her to think back to her own turning….

Yes Mel, Trixie hit upon the theory that Pam or possibily that Eric turned Tara…..that triggers the flashback to Pam being turned …I just like the possibility of Tara and Pam being at Fangtasia together….it would be too funny!

Yeah, I could totally see that being the catalyst for the flashback. Only 7 more months until we find out! 😀

I think it’s definitely a flashback of Eric turning Pam. I got strange feeling that Pam might end up being the one to turn Tara. Why else would they keep throwing these two together in season 4. Also, Eric once told Pam that if something happen to him, he wanted her to sire her own get. Not to mention Tara’s a lesbian now. Tara/Pam would make avery interesting and tumultuous pairing. Can’t wait to see.

Russell returning and the Eric turning Pam flashback are my most anticipated Season 5 moments so far.

Been thinking about who is going to be on the TV show. Could be Vampire Steve coming out – he always liked being on TV. Or could it be the weres coming out – they did it on live TV in the books.

I’m really curious to see this chain smoking (turned @) “9yo” vampire and how the writers will make that work. They said young but how young?? In vamp years I’m mean. He’s a council member so… Is he not as young as Jess, but no as old as who? He may not even be of huge significance, but his character jumped out at me. I’m excited to meet more of the Authority.

Also along with the same thinking……the first episode titled “Turn, turn, turn” when they say Sookie is flashback to using her telepathy on two boys that are picking on her when she is twelve….and she reveals a secret about one of the boys…..I just came to the realization of probably because Debbie’s body will be hidden by….I would guess Eric or bill that will trigger her flashback. To stay on topic…I think Steve Newlin will probably be interviewed by the reporter because this episode two seems to be vampire centered.

I think the turned 9 year old is homage to the Summit trials. Obviously that would be more of a 6th season thing, but they are not following that closely, and I think some of the coucil members are representing those we would have met at the Summit in Rhodes???

Book wise Pam was turned in “Old England” but by show I think this makes sense to flash back to her turning. I mean there were probably a whole lot of turned prostitutes, but Pam is the only one anyone really wants to know about. I am dying to see their take. And to see Eric be Nice Eric, then of course Vamp out on us. Ugh, I can’t wait.

I am wondering since book 5 is where we meet Charles Twining, and that whole twist (Not ruining anything there right?) And we are also supposed to be meeting Sweetie, maybe they are taking the stance that Sweetie has something to do with Jason rather than being a wierd part-were creature, and the whole Charles thing will be covered by Russell’s feud with Eric and Bill, and Sookie (since she put Talbot down the garbage disposal and everything).

Oh thank you thank you thank you for the little tidbits. Keep em comming. I am dying waiting for the new season to start airing. I so wish that TB aired like regular soap operas (5 days a week, nearly 52 weeks a year). Waiting Sucks doesn’t even begin to cover it. he he he

Pam turning vampire hater Tara would be pure comedy and so much fun to watch. I can imagine Tara having to take orders from smart mouth Pam. I hope is true. Not to mention the Lesbo fun they would have. Ahh…I can’t to find out what happens.
