Alexander Skarsgard Considers “The Great Wall”

It’s already that time of year when news of other projects the True Blood cast members will work on, post-season 5. We already know that Anna Paquin will be pretty busy with her little project, but we’ve just learned that Alexander Skarsgard is one of two being considered for a new, adventure film by Legendary Pictures, The Great Wall.

According to Deadline, the film is about “British warriors traveling through 15th Century China and happen upon the hurried construction of the massive wall. As night falls, the warriors realize that the haste in building the wall isn’t just to keep out the Mongols. There is something inhuman and more dangerous.”

Henry Cavill has already been cast in this film. Skarsgard is up against Benjamin Walker (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter). We will keep you posted as news comes in.

Over-night fan (almost literally) of the Sookie Stackhouse series since early 2008. Co-owner of Anxiously anticipating season 6.

I find that I generally enjoy AS’s work, even if the project is not exactly something I would prefer to watch overall. And he is amazing at picking roles that fit him so well. He is not just that guy from Zoolander who went on to become Eric the Viking-Vampire, doing some other role that is basically one of those two. He always surprises me with his range and versatility. This movie sounds like one that I would pay to see in the theater, rather than wait for it to hit cable. I really hope he gets the job.

An interesting project–different from the ones he’s done so far. Good luck to Alex. Hope he gets it if he really wants it.
