SPOILERS: Descriptions for the Final Two Episodes of True Blood Season 5

By  |  44 Comments

A little birdie sent us the official descriptions of the final two episodes of True Blood season 5, “Sunset” and “Save Yourself”. They don’t give away much that we didn’t already know, but we do get a couple of juicy spoilers.

Episode 5.11: “Sunset”
Debut: SUNDAY, AUG. 19 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT)

Slipping further into religious fervor, Bill (Stephen Moyer) gives Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) an order she’s loath to carry out. Armed with a damning video of Russell (Denis O’Hare) and Steve (Michael McMillian), the military delivers an ultimatum to the Authority. Claude (Giles Matthey) and Maurella (Kristina Anapau) take Sookie (Anna Paquin) to meet the faerie elder, who may know something about an ancient family secret. Alcide (Joe Manganiello) reconnects with his father; Sam (Sam Trammell) and Luna (Janina Gavankar) hitch a ride into the Authority.
Written by Angela Robinson; directed by Lesli Linka Glatter.

Episode 5.12: “Save Yourself” (season finale)
Debut: SUNDAY, AUG. 26 (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) embarks on a final, desperate mission to overthrow the Authority – and save Bill from losing his humanity. Andy (Chris Bauer) faces the consequences of a light pact he made; Alcide readies for a second showdown with J.D. (Louis Herthum); Sam and Luna test their limits in trying to escape the Authority.
Written by Alan Ball; directed by Michael Lehmann.

Sam and Luna are joining the battle against the Authority?!? Sweet! And it sounds like Andy might be called the face the consequences of his one night stand with Maurella.

I’d say Sam & Luna are on a mission to free little Emma. Who would have thought that Eric would ever be tasked with trying to save Bill’s humanity!

What about Sookie in the final? Does anyone think she will get involved with the Authority? I hope so but I can’t think of how? She did get involved with the sup shootings like in the books.

I hope she moves on too. I know I would if someone killed my creepy uncle, lied to me over and over and then almost killed me by draining me.

I’m confused. Didn’t Sookie already moved on? She dumped both Bill and Eric. Except for that one show of Bill faking glamouring Sookie, she hasn’t been pining for either man.

Doesn’t seem to me as though she’s had a whole lot of time to pine, Art.

They seem to be having the most trouble with a title for the eleventh episode. First it was going to be “Finally”, then it became “A Song of the Dead Faerie” and apparently now it’s going to be “Sunset”? Make up your mind, True Blood producers!

So maybe Jessica is ordered to turn Jason? Would explain seeing them laying in a hole in the ground

    • Emily

      August 8, 2012 at 6:00 pm

I hope not. That would really be jumping the shark for a lot of people if they turned Jason. Not everyone needs to become a vampire.

      • Jamie

        August 14, 2012 at 12:26 am

I agree. I saw Jason in the hole too, with Jessica, and I do not want him to be turned to a vamp too. That’s just going overboard.

I am on the fence on this season. I mean, I want Eric and Sookie together and last season, with the two of them together, made it perfect for me. It seems like each episode this season, something is always about to happen, always about to hit the fan, always about to move past that room at the Authority. But it doesn’t. I feel too much time has been spent talking in that room and not enough going elsewhere. Now that things are starting to happen/heat up, the season is over. = Damn.

I do like it that Tara has not lost her old fighter spirit and that she and Pam are hitting it off, sticking up for one another. I hope Tara protects Sookie.

Bill has pissed me off for a long time now and he can go away…go…fly away…I can’t stand the way he betrayed Eric and that cool, younger chick. I liked her and she was killed off last episode! She really added some personality I think.

Finally, why oh why did Sookie get rid of some of her fairy light, just as the **** is about to hit the fan? She’s going to need that!

Oh, Eric, save her! And come see me, afterwards. Haha…

On a side note, when True Blood is at it’s end, wrapping up, I sure hope Alan Ball ends the show the same way he did with Six Feet Under, showing us how each person’s life ends, later down the road. That was heart breaking and wonderful at the same time. It really puts closure on the show and touches the heart. I still sob when I see that ending!

I think that Eric will be the new leader of the Authority by the end of the last episode. Hopefully sookie can see how Bill made his own decision on losing him humanity out of his own free will. He decided to snitch on Eric and decided to stay.

    My other theory is similar.

Eric will be in control of the authority and be there to save sookie from the other vampire who is after her, who may be the stupid idiot that is taking over Fangtasia and she will kiss him.

    so many other theories.

This season was making me question what directions the writers were going to take. Now that it is close to the finale I am sitting at the edge of my seat to see what happens. However, I am disappointed that Sookie (or anyone else on the show for that matter) doesn’t seem to ever add up all the wrong Bill has done and point out how he is not the most reliable honest person.
It would be great for Sookie to see how Bill is behaving and how guilable he can be. It will also be wonderful for Sookie to see how Eric is standing up to everything that has happened. I think Eric has been able to shine these last two seasons and he keeps proving that he is strong-willed and the most sane out of the two.
The only thing that I am afraid might happen would be that anything ‘final’ will happen to Eric. Sure, there is that possibility that even if and when Eric saves Bill that he will still not have Sookie on his side in any capasity (which will surely piss me off), but I know that I will be more upset if they kill Eric off.

I know that everyone has a different take on this season but for me, I think it’s one of the better seasons! Of course I love them all, lol.

I too would be very disappointed if something happened to Eric. He’s half the reason I watch the show. But, I think the writers and creators are aware of his fan base so hopefully he’s safe.

As for Jason, I think it would be very different if he were to be turned. However, I’ll take turning him over losing him, that’s for sure. He’s all Sookie has, well besides Hadley.

What I’m missing from this season is the connections between Sookie and Bill and Sookie and Eric. Of course if the writers were to jump right to that, the storyline would be over so I understand the change in course. Eventually it will circle back to that story I hope.

What I’m LOVING is the interaction between the different characters that hadn’t occurred in past seasons. Like LaFayette having Sookie’s back and vice versa. Sam being the hero (pig barn) as opposed to Eric or Bill. My favorite new interaction – Pam and Tara. Pam’s whole new storyline is great and I’m so thrilled for Rutina Wesley that they finally came up with a better story for her character instead of just the girl that is crapped on all the time.

Overall I’m happy with this season and looking forward to the next couple of episodes. I think it’s going to be a whirlwind and leave us hanging by the skin of our fangs! ; )

Fortunately, I have never read the books. So the portrayal of Bill as the dominant love interest in the TV series does not rub me the wrong way. I couldn’t care less if Bill and Sookie get back together, or Eric and Sookie ride off into the sunset; for me, both are non issues. Both characters had their time with her, and that should be enough. For me, the TV series letting Eric into the romantic picture is a blurring of the lines between the two mediums, and shouldn’t have been done. The TV series never set out to mirror the story line of the books, so it owes nobody anything. Moving onto the S05E09 direction that Bill’s character has taken, I really feel that this has been very consistent with Bill’s character development. Throughout the TV series he has been portrayed as thoughtful, careful and calculating. This in turn supports his image as a master political manipulator, smooth and graceful. Very often the plot shifts because of his timely inputs, not accidents on his part, but directions from his will. The only times that this has not been the case are those charming instances when he seems to take leave of his senses, casting caution to the wind, in order to save Sookie from some calamity. Thereby only reinforcing the notion that his love for her is true and enduring. I therefore submit that Bill has not lost himself to idolatrous revelry, and is in fact treading dangerous waters with the only effective tool at his disposal; his wits. Furthermore, he is not crossing swords with a neophyte, his opponent, Salome Agrippa, has been manipulating men and women for over two thousand years and was born into a family where the skills were necessary for survival; he must be a master to be able to hold his own, or as I timorously suggest, prevail in such company.

I read the books, at least five of them and I’m kind of glad the show doesn’t follow the books. On the show I enjoyed Bill and Sookie a lot more than I Eric and Sookie. Anna and Stephen chemistry is amazing. I can understand why they started dating and eventually got married in real life.
I’m enjoying Eric with Nora. I think they are hot together.

I think warlo is really Russell Edgington who agrees? He is the oldest vampire. Hopefully sookie will save herself, she’s always a victim. Sookie needs to be a hero not the damsel in distress who needs saving all the time. It’s getting old!!!

    • Liz

      August 13, 2012 at 12:12 pm

I do not agree that Russell and Warlow are one and the same. I also do not agree with your comment about Sookie always needing to be saved. Um, Sookie has been doing a lot of saving this season, of not only herself, but Bill and Eric as well. I don’t know where you see that Sookie has been a weak character this season, or last season for that matter.

No, the producers said that Sookie will NOT be pregnant. Anna is pregnant and will deliver before season 6 begins filming.

I love it though, that Eric has retained his humanity and caring spirit, and kindness. I love that about him. I love it when they show that part of him. And his unending love for Godric. I really hope he is ok in all this.

I do like it that Tara has not lost her old fighter spirit and that she and Pam are hitting it off, sticking up for one another. I hope Tara protects Sookie.

I really hope that they do not turn Jason.. That’s so stupid. Maybe the faes will step in a help him or maybe Sookie will.. And Eric I think will help Luna and Sam get Emma out of the Authority.
Bill has lost it and what about Russell. He ain’t playing nice no more.. He’s pissed and he wants Sookie’s fae blood. Something is gonna happen.. I heard lots and lots of blood in the finale. Highest body count.
OMG! That’s gonna be awesome to see the look on Andy’s face when he finds out about Maruella and the baby.. I could see that

True Blood will run for at least 8 seasons I heard as will Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones. That’s what HBO said..

HBO has not given specific series orders to ANY of their shows. What their President of Programming said was that they would continue to produce the series for as long as the creators/writers were excited and had stories to tell and as long as there was an audience interested in watching them.

I like the idea of Jason turning vamp. Especially since Jessica will be his maker. They already have a bond and it will only get tighter. Pluss it will open up many possibilities for his dull charactors. Just like it did for Terra. But I think they should stop turning major charactors into vamps for a while after Jason. Two major charectors are enough for now.

Warlo is not any of the known vamps from the show. He is WARLOW, with his onw name and everything. He’s NOT Russel Edgington. Russel Edgington is Russel Edgington. He never even heard of Ferries until he MET Sookie. So it wouldn’t make much since for him to draw up a contract with them in 1702 now would it?

I don’t agree with Russel Edginton’s view towards humans(or the constant murder of them), but I would really be sad to see him go. He gives the show so much life. Pluss he’s THREE THOSAND YEARS OLD! All the history he’s been apart of. It would be a real loss to the show if he were to be killed off. Pluss I like his vision for vampires. synthesize Ferry blood to walk in the day. LOVE IT.

Other than a few goow episodes, this season has been some whatt boring. The Athority thing just took way too much time. Yay to Tara and Pam for making this season cool. I’m not sure but I think I remember the Ferries saying that Sook was acquainted with the vampire whot killed her parents. I’m guessing Russell. Which is why she’s gonna return from ferry elder with the power to kick Russell’ butt once and for all. This season opens the door to an awesome season 6. I can’t wait.

It is getting really really great and it’s ending for season…bummer. Im sure Alan Ball will make sure his last episode is absolutely out of this world…can’t wait. I wish the last episode was 2 hours. Already eagerly ready for Season 6!
Im glad Jessica and Jason’s plan worked out, I thought Bill was faking his act toward Lilith until tonight’s episode, What in the world is Andy going to do with a half fairy child, like Sookie! Tara is starting to fall in love with Pam and vice versa, Poor Emma, Wonder if Russell will be able to walk in the day if he makes it thru night? Eric and Nora have their work cut out for them, Sookie must really be showing because of all the head and shoulder shots, hopefully Alcide will snap his father out of his rut…hence I wish next episode was longer than a hour!
PS. A Ferry is a big boat–spell check always does that to me also..lol

They don’t show Russell in the Authority Building, but they do show Jason, which means that Russell is going to die, because he’s the one that glamored him, and he’s pretty busy trying to get to all those fairies right now. I feel certain (and happy!) that Eric is going to finally be able to exact revenge on Russell like he’s wanted to, AND in the same time save Sookie. He won’t be able to see her probably, but she’ll see him. Maybe she’ll run out to him and thank him. A girl can hope!

Since everyone else seems to end up back at the Authority BUT Sookie, I’m assuming Tara tells Eric that Pam’s been taken, and they all go back to try and rescue her and Jessica and (sadly) Bill. I have really loved Tara this season, and Pam is turning out to be a great maker. I’m glad because the first few episodes she was ridiculously bit*** and was very hard to like.

I’m really curious as to what the big cliffhanger is going to be this season.

I think Sookie makes it to the Authority shoot out as well. If you watch the preview for the last episode in one of the frames where Bill is talking to someone, you can sorta make out the outline of her blonde hair. In other frames, it appears she’s there with Eric as he tries to talk sense to Bill. You can just see some blonde wisps and outline in the frame.

So much for Bill faking it, and having a master plan.
