Alan Ball To Direct Two Films in 2014

Alan Ball has been using his downtime wisely: he’s written two feature films which he will also direct in 2014, reports Deadline.

The first, scheduled to start production in January, is a biopic on Chippendales founder Steve Banerjee. Adapted from the book I Am Chippendales by Rodney Sheldon, the film follows Banerjee’s rise from immigrant to mega-rich (and mega-paranoid) owner of the Chippendales.

Alan moves away from his dark tendencies with his next film, I Dream of Gene, “a contemporary broad comedy about a lost man who becomes the master of an irreverent male genie. ” The plan is to go straight from one project to the next.
