Luke Grimes Leaves True Blood, Recasting Begins for ‘James’

I don’t think this has happened on this show before, but TVLine is reporting that actor Luke Grimes has left True Blood “due to the creative direction of the character.”

Grimes’ rep declined to comment, but a source close to the Brothers & Sisters alum tells TVLine that the actor asked to be let out of his contract after he learned what producers had in store for James in Season 7. “He initially joined the show because he wanted to work with [his Forever co-star] Deborah Ann Woll,” says the insider. “But when he started reading the scripts for Season 7, he was disappointed to learn that they were going in a completely different direction with James.”

We wish Luke all the best and hope to see him in future endeavors. But what does this mean for our red-headed teen vamp? Is there a breakup in the cards for James and Jessica? Sounds like it to me. Sad face.

Interesting. Verrrrry interesting. Sounds like James and Jessica would be separated, most likely as part of the human/vampire pairings Sam and Bill proposed at the end of season 6. Jealousy? A human keeping one of the vampires locked up? One of the vampires going off the deep end with their human?

Yea we’ve only done one other recast. Claude in fae from season4 was different than Claude in season5. But considering they can change form to blend in whatever it could be bought that it was still Claude.

“James” however can we not do the recast thing…we didnt need him and if we’re ending why waste time on him.

They are making the character of James have a romance with Layfette for season and he obviously didn’t want to do that so he asked to leave. They are recasting the character now with the conditions that the actor must be comfortable with nudity and simulated sex scenes with a man.

And you know this how? Are you a crew member on the show? A writer’s assistant? A close, personal friend of one of the writers? You must understand that we view your comment as pure speculation unless you can prove otherwise.
