Another Surprise Gift from HBO!

As if items from the set weren’t enough, HBO surprised us with another gift on Friday! This time the black, coffin-shaped cardboard box was an immediate giveaway that something special and True Blood-related had arrived, but we weren’t prepared for the thoughtfulness of what was inside.

A miniature wooden coffin with the True Blood logo and our own Twitter handle (@trueblooddotnet) burned into the lid make this a truly unique gift. Inside the coffin, nestled in the red satin lining, we found a Sookie Stackhouse Funko POP figurine (um…the one that Mel just said she wanted in a recent podcast), a bottle opener/keychain made from the lid of a Tru Blood bottle, a little booklet full of Truebie Testimonials (you’ve been seeing them on Twitter and Facebook all season), temporary tattoos of dripping blood, and a t-shirt with Twitter handles worked into a flowing blood design.

Also inside is a note from the team at True Blood and HBO, thanking us for supporting the show for the past  seven years. As we’ve mentioned elsewhere, we were the first True Blood fansite in existence; we even preceded HBO’s official site by several months. This wasn’t our first fansite, but it’s the one we’ve been the most dedicated to, and part of that dedication is a response to the fan-friendly nature of the folks at HBO.

Over the years, we’ve had many opportunities to interact with the creative people who made the show and those working in HBO’s Publicity Department who shepherded the series into the mainstream. It’s been quite a ride, and we, too, want to say thank you to everyone at HBO who reached out to us and worked hard to engage the fans and enhance our True Blood experience.

P.S. We’ve had several people ask us on Twitter and Facebook how we got this gift and/or how they can get their own. This was a surprise from HBO. We know other fan sites and other fans have received gifts as well. We can’t claim to know all the criteria for HBO choosing to send these gifts, but we’re pretty sure being active fans over the years ranks pretty high on the list. To our knowledge, while the Funko POP figurines, bottle opener/keychain, and temporary tattoos can be purchased, the other items cannot.

Fan of the Southern Vampire Mysteries since 2001, and co-admin of True-Blood.net since 2008. Team Sookie!
