Anna Camp to Trod the Boards in New York

True Blood alum Anna Camp is heading to New York to take on the lead role in a new stage play by Nick Jones at the Lincoln Center. The play, Verite, is a thriller about a writer who is offered an unusual deal for her memoir: She has to make her life exciting enough to deserve it being published.

Camp told the AP that she’s looking forward to returning to New York, even though it means leaving sunny California behind for the East coast’s winter weather.

“I need it,” Camp said Monday from Los Angeles. “It’s going to be in the dead of winter, in New York, but that’s fine. I don’t care. I feel like my soul needs it. I’m going to be bundled up going to Lincoln Center every day, and that sounds like heaven to me.”

Camp — and her dog, a stoutish puggle — will be returning to New York after a few years in California. “I’ve been busy, which has been great. But that’s where I always saw myself. It’s where I feel the most creative and the most inspired. So I am itching to get back.”

Verite opens at the Claire Tow Theater on January 31.
