Sookie Stackhouse

Sookie Stackhouse is a telepathic waitress (sometimes) working at Merlotte’s Bar & Grill in Bon Temps, Louisiana. She is a tough, independent young woman with a good heart, and is happy to help her friends when they are in need.

Sookie’s first love was a vampire named Bill Compton. Through Bill she met Eric Northman, a 1000-year old vampire and owner of Fangtasia, a night club that caters to vampires and fangbangers. Bill and Eric are the two most important vampires in Sookie’s life. She loves them both but romance doesn’t seem to last with either of them.

Sookie has had her hands full since season one, when she helped discover a murderer in Bon Temps. From there she has gotten involved with vampire politics, a crazy witch and an old family nemesis. Along the way, Sookie also discovered that she is more than a telepath. She is in fact, part fairy.

In season 6, Sookie met her great-grandfather, a fairy prince, and he taught her about her family history. Niall also began to tutor her on her fairy powers which came in handy when her family’s enemy, Warlow, arrived, determined to make her his bride.

Sookie lost her grandmother in a brutal attack in season 1. She has a fairly close relationship with her brother, Jason, although that has been challenged since vampires became part of her life. At the end of season 4, Sookie’s best friend, Tara Thornton, saved Sookie’s life by sacrificing her own. Not being able to stand losing her best friend, Sookie asked Eric’s child and right-hand person, Pam, to make her a vampire.

As of the season 6 finale, Sookie was dating Alcide Herveaux, a werewolf who helped her on her quest to find and rescue Bill after Bill had been kidnapped. The two had a physical attraction to each other from the start which grew into a kind of friendship and, ultimately, romance.
