C.C. Adcock Sees Career Boost Thanks to True Blood
Remember Arlene and Rene’s ill-fated engagement in True Blood‘s first season? Sure, they were cute together, and Rene did love the kids, but there was that pesky serial killer complication. And then Sookie killed him with a shovel. Back when they were all still friends, Bon Temps turned out en masse for Arlene & Rene’s engagement party at Merlotte’s, featuring live music by C.C. Adcock and the aptly-named Lafayette Marquis. Good times. With their song “Bleed 2 Feed” featured on the True Blood soundtrack, C.C. Adcock is experiencing mainstream success after years of playing the swamp-rock circuit.
The Advocate (Baton Rouge) has an interview with Adcock, chronicling how he landed on True Blood and what it’s done for his career. Here’s an excerpt:
“I’ve always been in the cracks, between the lines, so to have something played at rock radio is kind of funny for me,” Adcock said from Lafayette this week. “But it’s on the strength of the show, and maybe the strength of the song.”
Adcock, knowing that True Blood creator and executive producer Alan Ball was already interested in his music, wrote “Bleed 2 Feed” specifically for the show.
“I went to Los Angeles and Alan showed me the pilot,” he said. “I went home that night and wrote the song. It didn’t make the theme, but it ended up on the soundtrack CD.”
Adcock will take part in the Louisiana songwriters night at the Manship Theater in Baton Rouge on Thursday, July 2 at 7:30PM. Tickets are $25.
