Ask Alex Winner Gets Answers
The winner of our Ask Alex giveaway, Alicia P., may be mom to 2 little girls and a part-time florist, but that doesn’t mean she can’t get flustered! When we alerted her that she’d won the opportunity to ask Alexander Skarsgard three questions, her response was, “I’m as giddy as a 13 year old in the front row of a Jonas Brothers concert.” We know the feeling. Once she regained her cool, though, Alicia did us proud and submitted some insightful questions for Alex to answer. For his part, Alex was swift to reply, taking less than 12 hours to respond from his home in Sweden where he is “recharging my batteries before Comic Con.”
1. First off, thank you so much for taking the time to answer these questions. Since we posted our favorite Eric moment from Season 2 (so far) to enter the contest, I was wondering what your favorite moment/scene to film was from Season 2?
My pleasure Alicia. There’s been plenty of fun moments, it’s really hard to pick one. But have to say that shooting a post-battle Viking scene (the entire thing in Swedish..) with three friends from back in Scandinavia was a blast!
2. I’ve noticed that you use a lot of body language and subtlety in portraying Eric and I think it’s a great compliment to you as an actor that a lot of fans pick up on it. Especially since the writing for Eric has been so superb this season. Is it a conscious decision on your part or does it organically come through when you get into Eric’s psyche?
I saw a documentary about lions when I was working on creating the character last year. I was very inspired by the confidence and ease with which the leader of the group carried himself. At one point the lion looked at the cameraman for over a minute. You couldn’t tell if he was about to attack or fall asleep. It’s was so suspenseful. I loved it and thought “Yeah, I think that’s Eric…”
3. If you had the choice of either invisibility, flying, or super strength, which one would you choose and what would be the first thing you did with that power?
Flying. So I can go back and visit my family in Sweden more often.
Thanks again to Alexander Skarsgard for letting us offer his time as a prize, and to Alicia P. for her thoughtful questions.
