True Blood Fashion: The Lady Vampire
Previously in our True Blood Fashion series we’ve taken a look at Maryann and Sarah Newlin and what their clothes have to say about them. This week our spotlight is on Pam, the world’s snarkiest vampire in a Chanel suit.
Ladies Who Lunch
“Can I kick him?”, Pam drawls while looking down at Lafayette. It’s a typical Pam statement, made even more amusing when coupled with her conservative, slightly-retro navy dress and modified beehive hairdo. Pam is deadly and has no morals that we can see, yet her personal wardrobe is more “social matron” than “bloodsucker”, somewhat hilariously preferring pastels and neutrals. From beautifully tailored vintage Chanel suits to cashmere sweaters to classic coat dresses, it looks like Pam has decided that following fashion trends is beneath her. Ladies Who Bite
It’s not all prim and proper in Pam’s wardrobe, though. When she’s on duty at Fangtasia, she gives the tourists what they want with her long black leather dress. It’s a slightly terrifying effect, but you know that’s what the patrons are after. Pam obviously values her expensive clothing, so when it comes time to give Eric a makeover, she ditches the dresses and dons a more sensible Juicy Couture tracksuit (sadly, the “dressage plum” color is no longer available). Ladies Who Accessorize
Pam is the kind of woman who puts together a “look” rather than just throwing on an outfit, therefore her accessories are equally notable. She prefers gold jewelry, of course, to add a bit of gleam to her ensemble. And of course if she ever gets in a bind, she can sell all that gold jewelry for cash. She also has a bevy of gorgeous statement bags to hold her necessities. Which begs the question: just what would a vampire need to carry around with her? But perhaps the most talked about accessory this season are Pam’s favorite pumps, a gorgeous pair of Betsey Johnson’s “Risky” heels in magenta. I hope she had a spare pair stashed in her closet. (Get the look: Betsey Johnson pumps; gold waterfall necklace; gold link bracelet; brown leather bag)
She’s a fashion plate for the ages, our Pam. But underneath the expert tailoring and expensive fabrics is a woman who knows what she wants and how to get it. Chanel has never looked scarier.
