True Blood Season 3: Who Is Coot?
Welcome to the twelfth in a series of features about the new characters coming to True Blood in season 3. We’ll be taking a look at these new characters using both information from casting calls and from the novels on which the show is based. Beware, spoilers ahead!
Who Is Coot?
True Blood introduces another new character this season when Cooter (aka Coot) arrives on the scene. Coot is the leader of a biker gang called the F*ck You Crew. Not only is this gang bad news, they’re also werewolves. In the books, werewolves and vampires hate are not on good terms at all, and it appears that lack of sentiment carried over to the show. The F*ck You Crew must have something to do with Bill’s disappearance at the end of season 2; when we first see them, they are taking turns stabbing Bill and drinking his blood (to get high, presumably). Vicious.
Coot and the rest of his gang – Louie, Jimmy and Gus – are indeed fans of V, but are they the ones ultimately responsible for Bill’s kidnapping? Or are they simply hired thugs? The casting call for this group stipulated that they are recurring characters, so we know they appear in more than one episode which suggests that they are indeed tangled up in something more insidious than a bunch of junkies who happened upon a vampire. Since it appears that Bill ends up at the King of Mississippi’s mansion after escaping/being rescued from the gang, it’s likely that they are located in Mississippi.
Grant Bowler will play Coot on True Blood.
