Thursday, July 22
1:00PM – Spotlight on Charlaine Harris – The author of the Sookie novels will gets an entire panel to herself to talk about the different worlds she has created through fiction, plus answer questions from fans. The panel is in Room 6BCF.
4:00PM – From Screen to Comics – Get an in-depth look at what it takes to turn big-screen action into 32 pages. Talented creators from across the spectrum, including Max Brooks, Nancy Collins, Peter David, Tony Lee, and more, look behind the scenes at some of the biggest properties to come to comics, such as True Blood, Doctor Who, The A-Team, Transformers, and Star Trek. 4:30PM – Behind the Music: Composing for Sci-Fi, Horror and Fantasy Film & Television – True Blood composer Nathan Barr is one of seven panelists who will talk about how they create music for genre film and TV. Attendees of the panel also will receive exclusive giveaways. Room 24ABC isn’t one of the big rooms, so make sure you get here early to snag a good seat.
Friday, July 23
11:00AM – Costume Designers: Designing for TV Production – True Blood costume designer Audrey Fisher joins four other designers to discuss the art and science of what they do. Room 32AB
2:15PM – James Frain is part of the panel for The Cape, a new series coming to NBC about a cop who assumes the identity of his son’s favorite comic book superhero to reclaim his name, family, and his city from the ruthless ARK Corporation and the masked villain known as Chess (Frain). Room 6A
2:30PM – The cast will be signing autographs at the Warner Bros. booth in the exhibition hall. We suggest getting in line earlier, though, as WB cuts off the autograph line at a certain point. You’ll also most likely have to give up a seat close to the stage at the panel in order to be in the autograph line. (updated)
4:00PM – Stephen Moyer will participate in a panel for Priest, a movie he filmed during the hiatus, in Hall H. This is a massive room, so if you’re planning to attend, try to get there by noon at the latest to get a decent seat.
4:30PM – Michael McMillian presents Lucid, the first issue of his comic book which he created and wrote for Archaia and Beyond The Door. Room 25ABC
5:15PM – The True Blood panel will be in Ballroom 20. Confirmed to attend are Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Alan Ball, Charlaine Harris, Deborah Ann Woll, Sam Trammell, Nelsan Ellis, Kristin Bauer, Joe Manganiello and Denis O’Hare. Alexander Skarsgard is in Hawaii filming Battleship, but is trying to rework his schedule to come back to the mainland for the panel. We recommend getting to the room no later than 1PM if you want to get a good seat by the time the panel begins.
Saturday, July 24
8:30PM – True Blood is sponsoring the annual masquerade for the second year in a row. Participants can enter the costume contest for a variety of prizes from various sponsors. Doors open at 7:45PM, but lines start much earlier.
In The Exhibition Hall
IDW will have a booth where you can purchase the first issue of the True Blood comic book, featuring an exclusive Comic Con variant cover (only 2,000 printed). DC Unlimited will unveil their True Blood busts – Sookie, Bill, Eric, the Fangtasia bar sign and the Merlotte’s Bar sign – on July 21.
