True Blood Season 4: Who Is Luna?

This is part 3 in our series of features about the new characters coming to True Blood in season 4. We’ll be taking a look at these new characters using both information from casting calls and from the novels on which the show is based. Beware, spoilers ahead!

Who Is Luna?

Luna is a new character coming to True Blood. She is not in the books so she is a brand new canvas for Alan Ball’s design. Janina Gavankar, who won the part, says Lune is “a school teacher who just happens to be a shapeshifter as well. And anyone who watched the show knows how quick we shapeshifters will shed our clothes. Right now she has a huge crush on Sam Merlotte and she’s making her move.”

Since we have nothing from the books, we don’t know much about her background. We will have to wait and see what she does. Any thoughts from all you Truebies?

Update: Thanks to Jillian who reminded us of this, there was a ‘Luna’ who helped Sookie escape from The Fellowship of the Sun members who held her captive. Luna was working under cover at FotS. Sookie meets her in “Living Dead in Dallas” and learns about other supernatural beings in the world from her. Sookie and Luna escape in a car driven by other shifters who tease Luna about her shifter form, which sounds like it could be a bat.
