True Blood Season 4: Who Is Caroline Bellefleur?

By  |  2 Comments

This is part 6 in our series of features about the new characters coming to True Blood in season 4. We’ll be taking a look at these new characters using both information from casting calls and from the novels on which the show is based. Beware, spoilers ahead!

Who Is Caroline Bellefleur?

This week we take a look at Caroline Bellefleur, grandmother to Andy and Portia, and matriarch of Bon Temps. Caroline is described in the casting call as being in her 70s, Caucasian, formidable, refined, and beautifully dressed.

In the books, Caroline did not like vampires at all and had little love for Sookie as well. However, after Sookie proves Andy’s innocents in the murder of Lafayette, she is grateful enough to bake her famous chocolate cake and leave it on Sookie’s front porch with a thank you note.

As the books go on, Caroline’s health declines, but before she dies, she has one request. To see the family Bible one last time. Bill, being the great-grandfather of Caroline, has the Bible and he brings it to her and confesses his relationship to her. He also tells her that it was he who anonymously gave a very large sum of money, supposedly from a long lost relative who had died, which was used to restore the decaying, old house, Belle Rive.

The part has not been cast as of this post.
Update 6/24/11: Katherine Helmond has been cast as Caroline.

Over-night fan (almost literally) of the Sookie Stackhouse series since early 2008. Co-owner of True-Blood.net. Anxiously anticipating season 6.
