True Blood Fashion Q&A: Eric’s Jacket, Sookie’s Dress & Lafayette’s Vest
The True Blood fashion column is just getting underway for season 4, and we’re sourcing some items for you today that are in demand. Thanks to True Blood costume designer Audrey Fisher for answering our questions!
Q. I was wondering about Eric’s leather jacket in episode 1 of the 4th season? Who is the designer? Is it custom made for Alexander or off the rack? Thank you. – Tanya
A. You’re not the only one asking, Tanya. We had several queries about this jacket, which eagle-eyed readers of True-Blood.net ought to have recognized from our Fashion Preview a couple of weeks ago. Yes, the answer to the “Who wears it?” question is “Eric”. This black denim jacket with leather sleeves is the DRKSHDW by Rick Owens and shows up in episodes 4.01 and 4.02. Audrey picked it up at Traffic L.A., but it is currently sold out. Farfetch has another in that line with a slightly different collar and wash.
NOTE: If you’re looking for Eric’s quilted leather jacket from episode 4.02, it’s discussed here.
Q. Sookie looked so cute in that denim dress and yellow cardigan in “You Smell Like Dinner.” Please tell me it’s not a custom-made dress! – June
A. First, I love your name! Second, good news, it’s not a custom dress! Third, bad news, it’s no longer in stores. The denim halter dress Sookie wears in True Blood episode 4.02 is a Grane chambray sundress with pockets from last year (and with the tie belt removed). I did find a listing for the dress on eBay, so you may be in luck there. The mustard yellow cardigan is by Brass Plum/bp for Nordstrom and ought to be coming back in stock with the fall/back-to-school collection.
Q. Lafayette wore a cool denim vest in the season premiere. Who is it by? – Mike
A. Lala is one stylish dude, don’t you think? The vest is originally by XY Jeans, then Audrey and her team reworked it for Nelsan Ellis to wear as Lafayette.
NOTE: Here at the beginning of the season we’ll be seeing a lot of items that were sourced as long as 10 months ago and are no longer available. The gap between airdates and production will close swiftly, though, so don’t despair! Items we see in later episodes have a better chance of being in stores.
That’s a wrap for this week. Do you have a burning True Blood fashion question? Drop us a line or comment below and we’ll do our best to get the answer for you!
