Sookie Stackhouse Reads Harper Connelly Mystery

After last week’s “I don’t do book clubs” chat between Pam and Sookie, this week True Blood showed that this doesn’t mean Sookie doesn’t read. In fact, Sookie is a fan of…Charlaine Harris. Yep, the on-screen incarnation of Harris’ best-known heroine was caught reading book four in the Harper Connelly series, Grave Secret, while waiting for Eric to return.

This is the latest in a series of subtle nods between the TV show and the books: in the first episode of True Blood, Adele Stackhouse was reading an Aurora Teagarden mystery; in the season 2 finale, Charlaine Harris had a cameo at the bar. Charlaine returned the favor in Dead in the Family when she wrote a scene where “Bad Things” plays on the jukebox at Merlotte’s. By our count, this latest tip of the hat means it’s Charlaine’s move.
