True Blood Fashion Q&A: Sookie’s Pretty Cardigan, Jessica’s Sassy Heels, Sam’s Plaid Shirt
It’s always interesting to me to see which wardrobe items strike a chord among viewers during a particular episode of True Blood. If I receive a fashion query within 10 minutes of the episode ending, I know several more are on the way. If an email comes in during an episode, well, batten down the hatches! True Blood costume designer Audrey Fisher answers one such burning question from several readers in this week’s Fashion column, plus settles a bet and the rare request for an item worn by a man.
Q. I really like the tank and sweater set that Sookie wore at the end of the episode today. Can you please tell me where I can get them? – Natalie
A. Natalie, you were the first to ask, but by just a few minutes. We received more than a dozen questions about this ensemble within a few hours of Sookie’s drunken encounter with Alcide and pina coladas. These two adorable pieces are from PacSun. You know, the little store at the mall? That’s the one! They’re from the 2011 fall/winter collection, so are no longer available in stores. Try a consignment shop like Plato’s Closet that targets shoppers in their teens/early 20s, and I’ll bet you can find both items.
Q. On episode 2, Jessica had a pair of kickin’ purple heels. I am dying to get my hands on them, but can’t locate them. An office bet is riding on the outcome. Thanks for any info. – Jean
A. An office bet about Jessica’s shoes? I want to work where you work, Jean! Audrey is ready to settle it with the following information: Jessica’s purple suede platform pumps are Beasst by Steve Madden (currently available in black suede and blush patent). We hope you get to collect the winnings!
Q. My husband loved the purple plaid western-style shirt that Sam Merlotte was wearing in the first couple of episodes this season. We’d love to know where to buy it! – Crystal
A. If your husband looks like Sam in a pair of jeans, then I hope you know how much the rest of us envy you, Crystal. But I digress. The shirt the two of you have your eyes on is actually blue, but it reads purple on screen, so don’t be disappointed if you can’t find that exact shade in stores. Audrey chose a Lucky brand shirt for Sam, rounding out his collection of plaids. I’m not finding that exact shirt available right now, but check the Lucky stores when autumn rolls around, and you should find something very similar.
