Lauren Bowles, Riley Smith Book New Gigs

In today’s edition of True Blood Alumni With New Jobs, we check in with Lauren Bowles (Holly) and Riley Smith (Keith).

Lauren scooped up a lead role in the indie movie Homecoming, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Homecoming centers on a lonely housewife, Joy (Bowles), who is new to a neighborhood with wealthy suburban alpha-moms. She soon falls into their world of backstabbing and botox, and is seduced into sacrificing her family for popularity in a desperate attempt to fit in. Filming begins in Portland, Oregon, this week.

Riley joins Nashville in a season-long, recurring role as Markus Kane, the hotshot frontman of a highly successful mainstream band who signs with Rayna Jaymes’s (Connie Britton) record label when he decides to go solo. According to TVLine, which broke the news, Markus initially gravitates to the fledgling Highway 65 because Rayna promises to help him strip down his sound and help him break into country. But when he realizes how much the company needs his album to be a hit, he also realizes how much power he holds over Rayna — that’s when his controlling and narcissistic tendencies reveal themselves.
