Anna Paquin to Co-Star in Margaret Atwood Miniseries
Anna Paquin sure does like the historical miniseries! She’s set to co-star in the upcoming Netflix/CBC miniseries Alias Grace, based on the Margaret Atwood novel of the same name. The novel itself was inspired by the historical true story of convicted murderer Grace Marks.
Deadline reports that Anna will play the Nancy Montgomery, the housekeeper/lover of Thomas Kinnear who ends up brutally murdered by her rival, Grace Marks (played by Sarah Gadon). Zachary Levi also co-stars, although his role has not been revealed.
Written and produced by Sarah Polley and directed by Mary Harron, Alias Grace follows Grace a poor, young Irish immigrant and domestic servant in Upper Canada who, along with stable hand James McDermott, was convicted of the brutal murders of their employer, Thomas, and Nancy in 1843. Although Nancy initially befriends Grace, she begins to resent her and becomes increasingly jealous of Thomas’s affection for her. Nancy eventually fires Grace in a fit of rage and is later found brutally murdered.
Filming on the six-hour miniseries is under way in Ontario. It will be broadcast in Canada on CBC and globally everywhere else on Netflix.
