RUMOR: HBO is considering a True Blood reboot

TVLine published an exclusive today that HBO is considering rebooting True Blood with Riverdale executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa at the helm.

According to TVLine, Alan Ball is also eyeing a return as executive producer.

None of the above is on the record – meaning none of the sources for the story wanted their names used – and HBO has so far declined to comment. However, that doesn’t mean conversations aren’t happening. I’m sure Warner Bros. (HBO’s parent company) is reviewing all of their past hits for potential new projects. Leaking the information could be a way to gauge interest in a reboot.

UPDATE: Charlaine Harris apparently was unaware these conversations were happening. On the one hand, it seems odd that the author of the source material isn’t in the loop. On the other hand, Charlaine has said repeatedly that she signed the TV rights over to Alan and had no further involvement in telling that version of Sookie’s story.

So, what say you, Truebies? Are you interested in a return visit to Bon Temps? What do you want to see in an updated version of True Blood? Vote in our poll, then leave your comments below.
