Sam Trammell: “Twilight” and Ryan Kwanten

E!Online’s Marc Malkin caught Sam Trammell saying he hasn’t seen Twilight, nor has he read any of the books. “”I haven’t seen it,” Sam Trammell, who plays bar owner Sam Merlotte on HBO’s hit vampire series, tells me. “I haven’t read the books. I should though, just so I can answer questions about it. The sense I get is Twilight is PG and ours is bordering on NC-17,” Trammell says. Since Twilight is geared toward teens, I don’t see that it would hold any appeal for Sam, but who knows. Curiosity may win out.

When it comes time to throw in the towel, or in this case, the shirts, Trammell compares himself to fellow actor Ryan Kwanten. “I definitely have to stay in good shape, but I don’t even try to compete with Ryan Kwanten,” Trammell says with a laugh. “I recently had to do a scene with my shirt off, and Ryan had his shirt off in the same scene. It doesn’t feel great. No matter how good of shape you are in, you’re going to look bad.”
