Pamela Swynford de Beaufort (Ravenscroft)
When we first meet Pam on True Blood, she is standing straight and tall beside her sire and boss, Eric Northman. Pam works for Eric in his night club, Fangtasia. She is his right-hand person, his second in command, and the only person – alive or undead – he trusts.
Pam is usually found at Fangtasia, but Eric often has her doing other odd jobs as well, like threatening Lafayette to keep selling V to humans in season 2. Pam is very loyal to Eric, and he to her. Because of their relationship, in season 3 the Magister has no problem using torture on Pam to get Eric to tell him who has been supplying V for sale to humans.
In season 4, when a witch casts a spell on Eric making him forget who he is, Pam confronts the witch to make her remove the spell. Instead she ends up being cursed herself and her flesh begins to rot. Putting aside her disgust of Sookie, she enlists Sookie’s help in hiding Eric until his memories can be restored.
Later in the season, Sookie uses her fairy powers to free both Eric and Pam from the witch’s curses. Pam then goes with Tara to the Moon Goddess Emporium where the witch, Marnie, is meeting with her followers and Tara and Sookie. When Bill, Eric, Pam, and Jason arrive to destroy the Emporium and Marnie, they discover that Sookie is inside as well and halt their attack. But Pam grabs a bazooka and shoots, unaware that Marnie has put a protection spell around the building. The shot rebounds and hits Jason. Eric, in his anger at Pam for disobeying him, sends Pam away.
From that point on, Pam and Eric’s relationship begins to unravel for the first time in over one hundred years. Pam blames it all on Sookie because of Eric’s feelings for her. In season 5, however, Sookie begs Pam to turn her fallen friend, Tara, into a vampire. In exchange, Sookie says she’ll help Pam repair her relationship with Eric.
In season 5 we finally get Pam’s story of her first meeting with Eric. She once owned a brothel in San Francisco, and Eric saved her life from a rapist/serial killer. At her request, Eric turns her into a vampire and she binds herself to him.
Throughout season 5, Pam has her hands full in trying to get her ‘child’, Tara, under control. She takes responsibility for the death of the new vampire sheriff whom Tara has murdered, and is taken in by the Vampire Authority. Later, Tara rescues her and the two begin an intimate relationship.
In an emotional scene, Eric releases Pam for her own protection. She continues to manage Fangtasia while Eric and Bill go after Russell Edgington and the Vampire Authority, until she is arrested by the new S.W.A.T. troops that have been rounding up vampires on Governor Burrell’s orders in season 6. They are taken to a camp where awful experiments are being conducted on vampires.
Pam is questioned by a human psychiatrist in the camp facility, and she attempts to escape by manipulating him through sex. She finds Tara and they, along with the other vampires at the camp, escape into the sunlight after feeding off of Bill, who’s blood contains the powers of Lilith’s blood.
When we left Pam at the end of season 6, she was saying goodbye to Tara. She’s just not the same Pam after all that’s happened between her and Eric.
